What is Necrosis?

Death of plant or animal cells or tissues. In plants, necrosis can discolor stems or leaves or kill a plant entirely.

The condition of being dead. Osis = condition; Necro = death.

In death, the color of tissue ranges from pale to black. For example, think of all the colors you've seen in injured tissue, from white to yellow to purple to blue to brown to black. Everything from a burn to a bruise to a mummy. Those are the colors of all the stages of necrosis, which is dust returning to dust, in a manner of speaking.
