In 1939, as a wedding gift, my grandmother had my mother's veil (along with its tiara-band) box-framed around the wedding portrait. I've never seen this done since.

Not my veil, but my baby's bassinet cover. It was one of those long, lacy, gorgeous ones and I just couldn't see getting rid of it or packing it away and never seeing it except when going through things every few years.
I decided to make a Christmas tree skirt out of it. I wanted a "grown-up" tree in our bedroom, and it made perfect sense to use it there. I went further and made the theme all white. I hung a couple pairs of my son's white booties, had the bassinet skirt, brought in some small twigs that I spray-painted white and sprinkled with iridescent glitter, crocheted white snowflakes - it was so beautiful!!
The best part is that I get to take that bassinet-tree skirt out every year and let it do it's new duty while I enjoy seeing it again for a few weeks! Perhaps you could do the same with your veil.

If you have a big four poster bed you can hang it from one of the posts for a real girlie look. You can also drape it over a curtain rod, very feminine.

Anyone you know having a baby? You know those bassinet liners can cost up to $500.00? Use your imagination and turn your veil into a beautiful bed for your new little prince or princess. Hang part of the veil from the wall, with flowers or bows, maybe a wreath, as a curtain then string loads of veil on a ribbon and tie it around the top of the bassinet and depending how much veil you have, layer it to the floor and add flowers or pink or blue bows and you will have made one new mother very happy.

Cut some of the tulle or lace into 6" circles or squares. Gather the other up the middle or up the diagonal with a pretty ribbon, about 8" or 12" long. Tie it so it gathers for winge, and tie it in a knot so you can let go of it and it's tails are horizontal. Use a marble or Styrofoam ball in the center of one for the head, and use the ribbon from the wings to gather it around the bottom for the neck and/or bow tie.
You will then be able to either hot glue something cute under the neck. If it's glitter drops for a fancy ribbon, a button for a ripped fabric strip that gives it that country look, or antique like buttons for an older look, esp' if the fabric is antique white or ecru, you will have a wonderful angel for your tree this Christmas. Simply hook the ornament hook under the back of the ribbon. Enjoy!
PS: You can also do the same thing with Dollar Tree Doilies!

Not the veil but the dress. I 've heard of someone making the angels for on top of the Christmas tree using their mother's wedding dress. One was made and given to each of 4 girls in the family.

Hey Linda,
Never had to wear a wedding veil myself(being that I'm a guy..lol) but..several years ago during a Christmas Craft class the instructor brought in a variety of laces...some had been used as veils...She also brought in a variety of cookie cutters to use as patterns...ie snowflakes, circles, etc...but in a range of sizes...you could also use an image online and resize it in multiple sizes, print and use as a pattern. We also used a taper candle and block of foam for the base. You would need to cut a hole(but not all the way thru the foam, wide enough to hold the candle securely...now with the patterns you would need to cut 5 various sizes of pattern AND 5 of each for a total of 25 pieces once cut. because the lace we used wasn't very stiff...we also used fabric stiffener to help add some body to the lace...You also need to cut an "X" shape in the center of each cut out shape to feed the candle thru...once all the pieces are cut and stiffened start stacking them on the candle stick thru the cut hole with the largest pieces on the bottom...working to the smallest on the top...we then glued some glittery type of embellishments on it and when it was thru...we had a Christmast tree for a table...you just don't want to burn the candle...it's meant to be the trunk of the tree. You could also dye the lace if desired but it was really pretty with white lace and a white candle in the center. and if you would like to cover the foam you could wrap it with gift wrap or fabric...or take a variety of small packages, wrap them...add little bows and hot glue them to the foam base. It was easy to store...just take the candle out...lay the pieces flat and box it all together...just not in a hot place or the candle can melt/warp...Hope this gives you an idea.
