Use no stockings or a nude color that matches your legs. I have found that for special events, pantyhose with a "high shine" or "shimmer" look super. You'll pay more, but they are fabulous. Givency, Berkshire, I think Donna Karan, Calvin Klein make shimmer pantyhose. You'll pay for this look--around $12 a pair--but it is worth it for a special occasion. If your area does not have stores that carry these brands, order off the internet--just search for "shimmer pantyhose." Many are control style, so they usually last longer plus controls the tummy! Stockings may show our "age", but they sure do cover up lots of irregularities that younger people don't hink about--like spider veins! Dark legs under a pale dress would look unnatural no matter what your skin color.
