Soft Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup salad oil
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 5 cups flour, unsifted
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar

Directions

Cream together first 6 ingredients. Mix rest of ingredients and form into balls 2 inches in diameter. Roll in sugar and flatten on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in 350 degree F oven for 10 minutes.

They sound yummy, but I have 2 questions:

1. Can butter be used?
2. Is salad oil the same as vegetable oil?

Thank you so much for this! It looks like a recipe I have only this is a much larger one. I will use this for holiday gifts! I usually place one chocolate coated candy on top before baking, really good! :)
