Mending Sheets Before Washing
Mend small rips and tears in pillow cases and sheets before, you throw them in the washer. This will prevent them from ripping more.

There is very thin iron on patch repair available at any sewing store or department. My top sheets seem to get an L shaped tear on the corners, and this has kept me from making rags out of them.
