My son works in construction and wears skull caps to keep his hair out of his face and control the sweat a bit. They can be a bit expensive for the size of them. I want to make some for him in prints he would like, but I don't have a pattern. Is there anyone out there with a skull cap pattern they'd like to share with me, please?

Thank you,
Donna from Cherryvale, KS

I have patterns for almost all of the DuRags aka Skull Caps. I'm working on reverse engineering the ones with a brim)

Please send me an e-mail at Ripmoosedog AT yahoo.com
With your mailing address and type of Rag you're looking for, I'll send you the pattern - all I ask is that you please send a donation to cover the cost of postage.

I took an old one apart and made a pattern out of it. It works really good. I have made quite a few over them. I have not seen a pattern anyplace, but this seems to work ok for my husband.

I ordered pattern from Paragon as indicated above, in July. They took my money but did not send pattern. Am not able to reach them by phone, email or fax. Any other ideas where I can find a good pattern to make for my husband?

I found this site and it does have a pattern you can buy, it looks just like the one that you have pictured: http://www.paragonpatterns.com/Accessories/accessories.html

I haven't received the pattern yet, but it does look the same style.

The best place to get them maybe even cheaper than making them is at a motorcycle rally or event, we wear them under our helmets to avoid the sweat also I usually find them at events for 2 to 3 dollars each.

Could you take one of his skull caps and copy it? That's the only suggestion I have - sorry I can't help you more.

I've always heard these called "do rags" or "doo rags", so if you can't find anything at craftster, then you may want to do a google search for doo rag pattern.

Good luck!

Thanks for the craftster.org website.....neat place, but I didn't find any skull caps, or patterns for any. I'll go back & check more thoroughly....I might find something else there I can use!

To everyone: Just in case my request was misunderstood...
A skull cap is called that because it covers the upper part of your head or skull, thus the name "skull cap". It is just a covering for your head that pretty much covers just the top of the head like a bandana did for us years ago. Except the skull cap has a flap that sort of hangs down in back, & the cap has ties that tie in the back (over the flap) to make the skull cap snug to the head. The print on the cotton material is a matter of choice, & has nothing to do with the name skull cap, though I guess you could have a skull print on the material, if you so choose. My son might like that.....his momma wouldn't!!! lol

Please, somebody out there, help me find some patterns (or even one), if you can!!!

Thanks,
Donna
