Use honey as a facial mask for moistuizing and tightening pores. You could warm it slightly in the microwave, but I don't. I just pat it on, leave on for about 10-15 minutes and rinse off. It smells good and you can lick your lips for a nice treat while you give yourself a facial.

Be extremely careful when using sugar as an exfoliant in your mask.
The sugar can actually create small cuts in your skin which would aggravate it, obviously, and allow bacteria in as well. Using abrasive exfoliants when you have active acne can actually spread the bacteria around causing more breakout.
Honey is great as it is gentle and has antibacterial properties, however there are going to be those who react because not everyone's skin is the same.

I applied honey on my face. It didn't spread evenly and it forms droplets on my skin. It's like water on an oily skin. Why do we need to warm up the honey? Is it to prevent the droplets from forming?

I also had a reaction my face is red raw and blotchy the doctor said severe reaction I do not recommend it. I cant wear anything on my skin for a week the doctor prescribed me Vaseline and aveeno cream to help be warned, do not try this mask.

Make sure the honey is raw! Those of you that didn't get the results you where hoping for make sure your honey was raw not processed. You will not get the same results if your honey is processed

This is an AMAZING facial mask. It not only makes your skin feel baby soft, but also treats existing blemishes! I have had acne for a while now and this is the only thing that gives me instant results. I use honey with dried oatmeal smushed in pretty well and that does a great job at exfoiating but also keeps the honey from sliding off my face :) It does a fantastic job at moisturizing and reducing redness in the skin. Another way to use it is to grind rolled oats in the blender and use it as a cleanser by adding water or milk (a little more moisturizing) But my favorite of all is mixing a little oatmeal powder with honey and using it as a daily mask! But remember that all skin is different and you might react to it differently than I do. However it is highly unlikely that you will be allergic to it. Good luck :)

OMG this is so good.....so far. I first put it on today and i have to say i am liking the results. Firstly, i get really bad greasy skin after about 2 hours of washing it. Well, i put honey on my face at around 3 o'clock and my face wasnt greasy all day!!!!! It was amazing, my face was smooth like a babies bottom lol. But it didnt dry my skin out either, which i was a bit worried about because i didn't want dry flacky skin. It also moisturised it slightly and kept it normal and felt natural all day. THANK YOU for showing me how to apply this honey. I didnt use sugar though, i thought that might scratch and irritate my skin so i just used honey the first time. I would recommend this to anyone, unless you have an allergy obviously.

I just used pure honey after I first cleansed my face as a face mask, I left it on for one hour and then I rinsed it off with warm water and then with cold to close the pores. Guess what? No improvement at all. I still have my zits where they were before I used the mask they didn't shrink or anything, and about you guys saying it makes the skin soft. No improvement there either, but then again my skin is already soft. I think the apple cider vinegar is much much better works really good to get rid of zits.

My face was always breaking out in red patches and I was using a steriod cream to keep it under control. I recently started using honey once a day as a facial and it is amazing. My skin feels and looks great. At 47 years old I must say this has turned out to be the cheapest and best product I ever used on my face. Go figure!

I use Burleson's Clover Honey from Wal-Mart I am 29 and have had problems for years with acne and blackheads. After my emergency hysterectomy my skin went crazy! I am on replacement hormones but my skin would not calm down even after a year. 3-4 times a week I put honey on my face with nothing else. I rub it into my pores in a circular motion and let it sit 5-10 min. Really concentrate on zits and blackheads and rub it every couple of minutes to keep it from sliding off my face. It will get tacky after a while if you only use a little as I do. Then I take baking soda and pour it in one hand and wet the other. I use my wet fingers to rub it in concentrating on blackheads. That is it and it is soo cheap. Witch hazel is good but has a lot of alcohol so don't over dry your face by using it too much or it will make your problems worse. My skin has never looked so good! I have used everything proactiv, murad, wexler etc. I just use this now and leave my face alone! The more I wash it and mess with it the worse it gets! Don't forget a good moisturizer because honey is a natural exfoliant combined with the baking soda which acts as a microdermabrasion and really unplugs the skin with no "downtime" I am through throwing away money and being embarrassed about my skin. Just remember not to use this around the sensitive eye area! Good Luck everyone this has cured my acne and blackheads! Hope it works for you as well Muah!

I love all the ideas and recipes! I was watching a show and they gave a tip that a honey facial was the best thing for your face, bored I did it on commercial! My face is glowing! My skin is really smooth, impurities have been pulled out and my red areas seem much calmer and less irritated! I'm in love! I can't wait to try some other recipes!

I recommend using rubbing alcohol (I recommend using the orange one, it has fruit in it, and its good for your skin). Dab some on a cotton ball and wipe it on where ever you have acne. You can use it on your face and your body. After be sure to put on moisturizer (I recommend using cetaphil daily advance ultra hydrating lotion) so your skin is cleared up, and moisturized. Hope I helped. ;)

I use honey as a facial mask and it has cleared up most of my acne. I still break out from time to time especially when the weather changes suddenly, but not like when I was a teenager. If you want an exfolliante, mix some brown sugar in with the honey until you get a sand consistency and gently rub on the face. I do that and it gives me really soft skin.
I am sorry to hear that some on here reacted to the honey mask. If you do react then you are probably allergic to honey and shouldn't be eating it or putting it on your skin.

The honey facial sounds good, but if you look on the label of skin care products and other body cleaning things. Do not use them every day if in the ingredient list there is a thing called SLS. Sodium Lorral Sulfate or something like that. SLS dries out your skin and can make acne worse.

Can I mix the honey with sugar to help exfoliate my skin? Would it work or not work and is it good to sleep with it or would it just make your pillow sticky? I have used it before and when i took it off it made my skin amazingly soft, I love it. I like to put it on when I'm going into my hot tub and it is extra relaxing, and if I get it on my lips or in my mouth it is non toxic, obviously and tastes delicious.

I had a mild allergic reaction but it works. Not like I'm gonna use it again but I recommend it for people who are not allergic to it. Before you put it on, put some in your arm to see if you are allergic or not.

Honey works great, but if you want to have better clearer skin, try mint julep masque. It helps people with acne or without. It cost 2.50 at family dollar and a dollar more at walgreens. It has helped my skin so much! A friend of mine had a pimple one day and it was gone the next by putting a dab with a band aid over night. During the day I will put it all over my face for 5 min or more. It works like nothing else had. For only 2.50 who can beat that!

I agree with many of the other comments about the food we eat and the toxic chemicals we put on our skin that are labelled as cosmetics. A diet just cutting out processede sugar, fried food, dairy, white processed flour and processed foods can do wonders for your skin ( and your body) Its sounds a bit hard but if you really want to get rid of your acne it is the only solid option out there. Once you remove the toxins that have built up in your body only then will they stop coming out of your skin. anything you put on your face topically only helps treat the symptoms not the cause. The best person to see is a really good natropath.
I agree that manuka honey on the face is really good, I also use it for sore throats, skin infections, cold sores. I swear by manuka honey, if you cant heal something grab the manuka.

OMG love the honey. I just tried it and I loved it. It helps with your acne. I am so happy, I could cry. LOL People with acne mix honey and sugar together and wet your face with hot water then rub it all over your face and scrub and leave it on for 15 mins then rinse. Do it every day before you go to bed. Trust me. It will work.

Proactive made things worse for my son and my self. Apple cider vinegar, diluted worked wonderful. I use it like a tonic and the honey mask just makes my face feel so soft. Sugar and honey is great for a scrub. Other people I know have used similar combinations with good out comes.

Hi, I just used a crystallized honey mask for the first time yesterday and, i love it. my skin was noticeably softer. i don't know about sleeping with it, as it may be messy. What i know works for sure is to dab honey on a pimple and cover it with a non-adhearing dressing/gauze (i.e. the white part of a bandaid). the honey brings up the pus from the pore and makes it ready to pop. continue to dab it on that pimple until it vanishes. honey is non caustic and won't darken your skin like tooth-paste. good-luck!

When I was in Beauty School 50 years ago, we did honey facials. I fell in love with them and have never used anything but honey on my face, no soap. No one can believe my age. I also use honey to clean my hair or if shampoo is use, I spread honey over my hair and rinse it off. It leaves my hair very soft and silky. Recently, my Yorkie had skin problems. I shampooed him with honey and rinsed it off. His hair was so gorgeous. He has no odor of anykind.

Hi folks! I'm actually trying out the honey facial mask right now. Feels good, and tastes even better. :) Someone here mentioned apple-cider vinegar. Aside from applying it to the face with a cotton ball, I've actually found that heavily diluting it in a small pitcher or a large cup with water, and then pouring it over one's entire body, face, scalp, etc. helps if you have acne on several areas of your body (as I do.)

I would also recommend people look into their DIET - I've long suspected the relationship (despite what I've heard many doctors say), and recently have begun what essentially amounts to a macro-biotic and raw-food diet. The idea is to eliminate anything which could be associated with acne flare ups, let the skin heal (if diet is the source, which apparently it is much of the time), and then begin re-introducing things back into your diet gradually. This way, you can actually find out what it is that is setting you off.

For a lot of people, it's all of the refined sugar and carbs we eat, ESP. without the proper balance of healthy fats (basically for every 2 grams of sugar, there should be 1 gram of fat, like from HAND-SHELLED nuts or the wonder food, OLIVE OIL.) The theory goes, NOT having this balance in SOME people creates a diabetic-like reaction and your skin goes nuts. So far I've already noticed some improvement. It's worth looking into folks.

hi ..I have found that many times when there is acne problems. The body has toxins. You can buy tons of cleansers and scrubs. But its the internals that need scrubbing. IE, intestines and bowels.
Check to see how regular you have h ad a bowel movement. If you are able to go once a day, that is good. Once a week is not good. Once every few days. not good. the body is designed to pass waste daily. If these waste is not eliminated from the intestines. The toxins build up and it has to go somewhere. Sometimes the skin is a good indicator of what is happening underneath. I am not a doctor. Just out of experience.

Drink lots of water. Daily, get rid of sweet drinks, especially coke and other soft drinks. So loaded in sugar, it just dulls the skin complexion.
Vegetables and fruits.
If you can get a juicer and daily juice. Many recipes on the pc. Just type into search engine and juicing recipes. This will help. I have been doing the above for years. And recently I have started just once a week having a facial tonic mask.Just once a week, plastering natural honey all over my freshly washed face. Rinse off with warm or tepid water.

Feels Great! I am going to be 44 soon. My skin feels like a baby again. A combo of water and greens and veges for the internal cleansing, and good skin care regime. You will soon see changes. I had terrible acne when I was in my teens to mid twenties. Scars everywhere from the acne. Menstrual cycles I broke out numerous times.
Now, I haven't got any scars. They're gone. Only thing I have to re learn is go to bed a bit earlier. Bad habit having a tv in the bedroom. lol.

Today was my 1st time doing a honey plus egg mask. I'm actually not sure about how good it is, but apparently everyone is saying that honey is good and stuff. Hope that I'll see some improvement in my face.

Have been having loads n loads of problem since I was 12, and am now 21. I've been to many doctors, facials and stuff. I do get better sometimes, but have never had a clear face. I've tried witch hazel, and many other brands recommended by so many people.

My main problem is little oil pimples, or clots to some others. I have never gotten huge red pimples. just the small ones. If anyone has some recipe towards better skin, and to clear these small pimples, do please let me know.

This really works, leaving my combination-dry skin soo soft and smooth! This is what I do once a week to pamper my skin:
1)I first cleanse my skin (I use the NZ brand 'Trilogy' cleanser)
2)Then exfoliate (using honey and plain sugar)
3)The facial: splash warm water on face to open pores, smear on honey, leave on for 15 minutes, rinse with warm water and then a splash of cool water to close pores
4) Apply moisturizer (I use Extra Virgin Olive Oil - it's a great moisturizer for my skin)
This routine once a week eaves my skin very soft, smooth, silky and radiant!
Note: If you are worried you might react to honey, do a patch test first on your arm, but it's highly unlikely you'll react to it.

For anyone who has acne such as myself, i found that using proactive works... but it is trouble to put on every morning and night when their is three steps. No one has the time. So what i found are two different ways that can help get rid of acne: for acne on your back or neck, use clean and clear dual action moisturizers. It works and it only takes about 20 seconds. it can also be used on your face but it doesn't work to fast. Also for your face, neutragena oil free wash is a great way to wash your face fast and see fast results. all you have to do is take some on your hand and get it a little wet. Apply it on your face and once your done putting it on you can wash it off. I must warn people that if you stop using it or a couple days... your acne will most likely come back.

I have been problemed with acne most of my teenage life and now at 23 i still have outbreaks of acne that scar! I have used all medications including roacutane and antibiotics however this did not help. I now use johnsons face wipes to take off my make up and cleanse my face and then splash with water or use Avene water spray for irritated skin (jus purified water in a spray). It is excellent. I also regularly put manuka honey on my face as a face mask. This procedure has done my face wonders and i now have very few spots and acne.

Ok, I have a question... so, if I was to use honey on my face, would I cleanse my skin first with some face wash? Or would I do that after? Or not at all? Also, could the honey be used instead of using a mosturizer? And one more question, is it possible for your skin to react to honey if you've never tried it before? That might be a stupid question, but I am always just scared when I try new things on my skin. Please help! Thanks.

Hey i have been using graham flour honey and hint of lemon facial mask, it feels really good and soft. I use it every night before bed. Honey is a great natural moisturizer, night creams can clog up oily skin even more so you should let your skin breath at night and not put moisturizer on.

does tightening pores do something in the long run? like, if you keep stretching the skin, wouldn't it get all saggy and wrinkly when you get old?

Have you tried Witch Hazel? It is so cheap but it works. Or even vinegar. I know several that swear by apple cider vinegar. They just use a cotton ball and swab their skin down every night with it.
