Sadly, it appears that another hurricane is going to make land fall in the US so the Red Cross may be needing even more help. For more information about how you can help, visit the Red Cross' website at the link below.

Also, for every Halloween or Fall Decor photo contest entry that we receive before the 25th we will donate $3 to the American Red Cross. Every little bit helps.

Peanut and Star

This is Peanut and Star. Every night when my husband gets out of his wheelchair, they are in it! It's so funny because they sit by the chair on the floor and just wait. Peanut has his arm around Star, he is her Daddy figure.

Boo (Beagle Mix)

My dogs name is Boo. She is 1 year and 2 months old and is a Beagle Mix. We got Boo from the Humane Society on August 30, 2004. She likes to jump, she can jump above the dining room window. She likes to sit in a lawn chair rather than lie on the ground. She is very unique.

Each year my husband adds a couple of carvings to his collection. We light the pumpkins each evening during the month of October. I really wish all of you could bring your children and grandchildren by to see them.

Recipe for fizzing bath salts

4 parts sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) to 2 part citric acid (you can get this from the chemist or from the supermarket. Make sure it's suitable for culinary use). Mix the two together and sprinkle over your bath. It's simple, cheap and fun! As a variation, if you add 1 part scented oil and mix well, then put the mixture into moulds, you can use this recipe for fizzing bath bombs. By Beth McMillan from West Sussex, England

Change the Spices

Occasionally, change the spices in your favorite dishes to give a bit of variety to it, your family will be expecting the same old version and you'll have a surprise for them. If you're not for sure, which spice to substitute, there are substitution charts in most cookbooks, or you might find them online.

Mums and Fall Decorating

Mums can be very easy to work with, and fall pumpkins make fun accessories for mums. The easiest thing to do is to create an arrangement of fresh flowers, place them in a jar of water, and place this jar inside the pumpkin. A pumpkin can also be used as a vase. After it's hollowed out, use flower arranging foam to hold leaves, mums, and filler flowers. Golden-yellow and red-bronze mums are a striking combination.

An easy fresh flower arrangement is to arrange mums in a shallow bowl. Cut the stems of your flowers to touch the bottom of the bowl while the flowers just reach the top of the bowl. Place light color flowers across the center of bowl and arrange the dark color flowers on either side of the light ones.

A hand-tied spiral bouquet with raffia is a simple but beautiful design. Gather three to five stems of mums in your hand. Begin the spiral placement by placing additional flower stems at a 45-degree angle against the rest of the bouquet. After three to five stems have been added in this fashion, twist the bouquet in your hand and add additional flowers using the same method. Bind the flowers by wrapping raffia several times around the flower stems at the point you held the flowers.

You can also send flowers to someone you care about. Online florist Beyond Blossoms (http://www.beyondblossoms.com) offers hand tied mum bouquets including one called Wild Harvest consisting of red rover mums, football mums, daisies, safari sunset, and curly willow.

Cereal Boxes for Magazine Storage

Most cereal boxes can be converted into boxes to store magazines. Just remove the top flaps and cut the upper third of the box off at a diagonal angle. You can put contact paper on the outside of the box to make the box look better.

Talk to Friends About Preparing Dishes

Recently, while talking with a friend, we were discussing how we prepare the same dishes. By doing this, it's given me several ideas on how to change the way I go about preparing my dishes, mostly, saving time in the kitchen. Talk and share with your friends, about cooking, you'll find out what I mean. Then post your new findings, as well.

Can My PC Remember My ThriftyFun Login Information?

I often post answers to questions here but I have to post as a guest because I never can remember my name and password. Is there a way to keep these on my pc but secret?. I always mean to write them down but then forget to do it. Or forget where I wrote it. There are too many places where I need them to remember them all.

Orange Pumpkin Shaped Cookies

Does anyone have a recipe for those orange colored jack o lantern shaped cookies that they sell at the grocery store this time of year? I think they are just sugar cookies. A recipe would be great, I would prefer not to buy them.

Aggressive Pit Bull

I have a 3 year old pitbull whom I love very much. She has always been incredible with my 2 young children and I have never been afriad of having her, instead always feeling safe. We recently just moved into a house, we lived in a condo before, and she has become very aggressive with anyone that walks into the house or that she might see while walking.

I have always been able to let others pet her, but now when they do she becomes very aggressive. I'm very scared for her, all the neighbors do not like her and I feel that I can not have any new guests to our home. My boyfriend wants me to get rid of her, but I cannot even think about doing so. I'm looking for obedience training, but still am very concerned. Any words to make me feel better?

Thanks.

Costume Ideas for Someone Who Loves Fantasy and Computer Games

I'm at my wits end. You see my brother cant decide what costume to wear for halloween. We all have it figured out besides him and as the 31st is getting closer its giving us less time to get a costume together. Plus we're getting ready to put our house on the market on november 1st so we also don't have to much money. If you have any ideas for a fantasy loving, computer gaming, 11 year old boy then I would be glad for the costume ideas!

Adding Tea Tree Oil to Hand Soap

I was wondering if anyone knows if you can add tea tree oil to any handsoap? And if so, how much and what kind of soap is best? Or is there a good hand or body soap already made using tree tea oil?

Carpet Anemone Stuck To the Side of the Tank

We have a Carpet Anemone and it has decided to fasten itself to the class of our salt water tank. We don't get to see the beauty of the carpet, only it's rear end. (Yes, it is very funny when we tell family and friends.) How can we get it to become unstuck? We have tried to cut the flow of water and move it early in the AM while it is still sleepy but it didn't work. We also tried to rub ice cubes on the outside of the tank to make it cold for him and it is still there.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jarjar from Quesnel, BC

The Queen of Fall Flowers - the Magnificent Mum
By Ellen Brown

Chrysanthemums are the quintessential flowers of fall. From blazing golden yellows to rich shades of mahogany, when it comes to intense color, nothing in the fall garden can match their showy display. It is no wonder that mums are the most widely grown pot plant in the United States; compact varieties with long-lasting blooms are great for containers on balconies and decks. These magnificent jewels are easy to transplant and grow-no garden should be without them.
