Need an extra large rubber band? Cut around the elastic top of an old pair of panty hose. Two of these crisscrossed, work fine when bundling newspapers. Use one to hold a bag in place in a garbage can.

Once used the elastic waist band from a pair of CLEAN old underwear. Hey, it worked wonders to hold a large box & lid together & many other things. Thought it was just me, but then I saw my m-i-l had some in her utility room! hmmm...must be more popular than I realize.

Cut rubber gloves up for a variety of sizes to make elastic bands -- cut up the fingertips and the cuffs. I also like to use girls pony tail holders. You can usually buy a big bag of them in a discount store or on a clearance rack for a dollar or less.
