Bear Dog is 8 years old. He is a lab and something big! We got him in October of 07. He was adopted from our local shelter, the elderly gentleman that had him before us couldn't take care of him anymore. Amazingly, for being an outside only dog, he is very well behaved and is now an inside dog with no problems. Well, one, he'll steal bread off the counter, but we love him and just put it away out of his reach now.
He likes to sleep, lay in the sun, go for walks. He scratches like a bear, rubbing his back on things like trees and couches, he'll push our couch out of place in a minute!
Hi All Thank you for all of the wonderful comments about Our Bear, I am sad to say that we had to put him to sleep on Mon, October 26th 2008, We had him in our lives for a year and the old boy was ready to move on, we know he is in a better place now and will miss him forever, thank you all.
You ROCK! Thanks for showing what AWESOME pets the older ones are! People like you help turn around the ridiculous perceptions some people have about how they "need" a puppy or kitten that they realistically are unprepared for and don't have the time or experience to properly train.
I adopted a red dobi at age 9 years ago and we had her for over 10 wonderful years. At 14 she saved my sister from an abusive ex-boyfriend by almost taking his arm off after jumping down a flight of stairs and launching herself at the jerk; and latching onto his arm. Brag as much as you can about that beauty to anyone who'll listen!
He's a beautiful baby! I know he's a great source of love and enjoyment for you. I have 4 spoiled babies - a 13-year-old female dachshund (who rules the roost), and 3 big boys of mixed lineage and age - all of whom came from the local humane society. awwwwwwwwwwwww! youre so very kind to take bear in and love him so! God bless you! Here is a pic of our boy David. :) He was a stray we took in. Altho we searched online in the paper and with signs out front when no one claimed him, we became his parents.
