Mock Sweetened Condensed Milk

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup nonfat dry milk
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. melted butter
  • 1/3 cup boiling water

Directions:

Place ingredients in a blender. Process until smooth. Equals 1 can of the boughten variety.

In clicking on the first link in the box below, I found a similar recipe for Homemade Sweetened Condensed Milk, with a question. I answered the question, but think it bears repeating on this post also. This is a wonderful recipe, and I have used several variations over the years, and it saves lots of money. The important thing is that you use only the milk powder. Do not reconstitute it first. That was what the question referred to on the other post.
You cannot use regular milk. But when you make this up and use it instead of the "real stuff", you cannot tell the difference.
