Hand-Me-Down Furniture Make Over
I'm the type that likes to use what I got. In this case what I got was two side chairs that didn't match my living room. I decided to make it match with my carpet. I bought a stretchable soft fabric $1/yard and sewed it onto the chairs and had some left over to do the footstool. For my white painted fish tank I used a Qtip and black paint made zebra stripes. Now all I need is fish.

This is Kuma and Chibi, they are 8 yr. old Pomeranians.
My husband went to the pet store without me knowing and told the lady who worked there that when they get Pomeranians in, to give him a call. When they got one in, they gave him a call and he took a look at them and came home to get me and we just had to get the last two Poms. They were only 8 weeks old back in November 1996.
Kuma and Chibi both like to play with their stuffed squeaky toys! They would bring it to either me or husband to play with them.

Premeasured Bags of Ingredients
I keep zip lock bags of pre measured amounts of flour and sugar in my fridge for those recipes that I use a lot, like Chocolate chip cookies and Banana Bread. It keeps me from having to haul the flour and sugar out every time.

Furl - Bookmark Your Favorite Sites
I just found this site:
It's wonderful if you like to save web pages into your favorites. What I like the most is that I can save these web pages (especially things from ThriftyFun) and refer back to them. It is not adware and you do not have to download anything, if you prefer. It is free! You can make the pages you save either private (for your own use) or public. You can even share recipes, tips, etc. with your friends.
If your browser ever crashes, you will not have to worry about all the lost bookmarks and you can access your saved information from any computer.
They have a very good FAQ section, which I read before signing up. It's very easy to use and I can't wait to transfer my bookmarked items from my browser into it.

Getting More Detail Out of Old Photos
Digital cameras can get info out of dark shadows so underexpose them. Take then into Photoshop Elements and bring out the hidden details.
If you want to really learn about your ancestors, digitally photograph (or scan) their old photographs. Take them into Photoshop Elements and bring out the details in the dark areas.
You will see old advertisements pop out on the sides of buildings or the details on fabric or hidden plants and on and on. I had no idea we could learn about our past from the dark shadows.

Tips for cooking in the summer without warming up your kitchen. Post your ideas.
I have used crockpots, roasters and toaster oven for along time, but I recently bought a double hot plate. You would not believe the difference it makes in power consumption and heat. I love it. It takes a little more time to boil (lets say) a quart of water but all in all it is worth it.

A small boy stunned his parents when he began to empty his pockets of nickels, dimes and quarters. Finally his mother said, "Where did you get all that money?" "At Sunday school,"the boy replied nonchalantly. "They have bowls of it."

A little girls father was confined to his bed with influenza and his wife had been very busy sterilizing all his dishes. "Why do you do that, Mummy?". Because dear, Daddy has germs and the germs get on the dishes he uses. I boil the dishes and that kills the germs. The little girl reflected a moment or two and then said. "Mummy, why not boil Daddy and get rid of the germs all at once?"

Removing Mothball Smell from Furniture
I am moving furniture out of a storage unit, it has been there for almost 2 years and the furniture smells like moth balls so bad. Is there something I can do to get rid of the smell? I don't want my new house to stink!
Thanks!

I have wood dinning table and buffet that came from a cigarette smoking enviroment. Even in my smoke free enviroment I can still smell the smoke. Both pieces are in great shape and do not need refinishing. I am looking for something to clean and eliminate the order. I have been told boiled water and white vinegar 50/50 may do the job. Any recommendations, suggestions will be appreciated.

Keeping Field Mice Out of a Vacant House
I need ideas to control field mice from entering my unoccupied house. It's 4000 Sq. feet on a cement slab. It has cement block walls with steel siding. The house is furnished and 30% is my craft shoppe which is closed. There is not an edible item in the place.
When I first saw the mice tracks, I washed every thing and set traps but to no avail. Next I bought high frequency items that plug in, one for each room, no help, tracks are back in the kitchen drawers. Today, july 7, I turned on two radio stations that play bach. According to a lab test 70% of the mice died. Thats hard to beleive but it's worth a try.
Aside from poison (children and pets in the area) can you suggest some ideas I could try?
Thank you,
Aunt Rose from Wisconsin

My 10-month-old female dachshund loves to chew on shoes (other things, too, but mostly shoes). We have changed our habits by ensuring that our shoes are out of reach, but it's difficult to communicate this importance to guests who visit for extended periods.
I think something that would go a long way toward training her would be to limit her "approved" chew toys list. Personally, I would like to have one (maybe two) unique toys that she knows are ok to chew on. My husband, however, seems to think she needs "stimulation," so just about every week, he brings in one or two new squeeky, bouncy, chewy things for her to play with - to the point that now we have about 15 or 20 toys (that haven't already been destroyed) to choose from.
I think this is confusing to her, giving her too many options. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? (Note: We do have a 14-month-old male companion doxie, too. He's been "shoe-chew-free" for about 10 months now.)

A family member, who lives with us, recently started working at a mink farm. He handles the mink for vaccinations. Unfortunately, they urinate when they are being handled. Now, even though he wears thick leather gloves, it soaks through, and leaves the most awful smell on him! We have tried a lot of different remedies but nothing seems to be taking the smell from his skin on his hands. Any ideas would be MOST appreciated!

Games and Movies for a Luau Party
My name is Gabby and I am having a Hawaiian luau party for me and 13 of my friends. This is a boy girl party and most of us are 13 or 14. I pretty much have everything under control like decorations and some foods but what I need help on is what games to play. I don't want them to be too cheeesy but fun.
i also need ideas for hawaiian or hawaiian related movies because my dad is renting a projector and we are watching a movie on the side of my house.
If you have any ideas for movies or fun games please tell me.
Thanks a bunch,
