RE: Guacamole Recipe

This is a recipe we have been using for years--it is really yummy! Hope it is useful to you!
  • 4 medium avocados
  • 1/2 red onion, chopped
  • 1 small tomato, chopped
  • 1 1/2 tbsp garlic powder (or equivalent fresh)
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • salt/pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Pico Pica hot pepper sauce (or your favorite)
  • Juice from 1/2 lemon (or lime)
  • Optional: 1 envelope "Great Guacamole" mix or similar (We never use this)
Mash avocados, then combine with remaining ingredients. Store in refrigerator. Makes about 3 cups. (10/24/2006)

RE: Guacamole Recipe

What I've found the easiest way to make Guacamole is to mash up 2 avacados leaving it some what chunky then stir in a half jar of salsa (hot or mild). If you want it creamy you can add some sour cream. Chill for about 2 hrs. Serve with your favorite chips or use as a condiment with your Hispanic dishes. (10/25/2006)

RE: Guacamole Recipe

Guacamole is its' best when it's fresh. Here is our recipe that we used to serve when we had our family restaurant. We never used lime or lemon juice as it changed the flavor too much for our taste buds. So we made it fresh several times a day.

Now when ever I make this recipe and bring it to parties, people comment that it is the best they have ever had. Enjoy. Best Ever Guacamole:

  • 4 hass avocados
  • 2 medium vine ripened or home grown tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 green chile ortega, canned
  • 1/8 cup finely chopped yellow onion
  • salt to taste
  • dash of garlic powder, optional
  • your favorite hot sauce to taste
