I have 4 large windows on the front of my house that take a beating from the afternoon sun. The part of the window frame closest to the window, about 1" has all the finish gone and needs to be re-stained. Does anyone have any tips or advice on the easiest, most efficient, and most cost effective way to do this?

a lot of this is happening because you maybe have older windows and the glass is not the newer kind with the UV protection and the insullation properties, etc. We just replaced our 30 yr. old bay window with a new one and can not believe how it does not allow the heat and cold in through the glass. Our old one would have cooked the sill inside.
Sometimes newer is better!!
