My son is marrying a German Girl. I would like to have some ideas for the reception for them after the wedding. Ideas using a German theme. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You, Faye Clayton

Maybe say something from the Heart in German when you make a toast.

How about a special toast from a German wedding cup?

Be careful not to be stereotypical in your reception plans. For example, my husband is from Ecuador, has dark hair, skin, and eyes, and speaks Spanish, so everyone thinks he's the same as someone from Mexico. For a family reception, my aunt made spicy meatballs and said she made them especially for my husband since he probably likes spicy foods. Ecuadorian food is not spicy, and our Mexican friends do not care for spicy food, either. I think it would be best to ask your son and his fiance what they want at their reception rather than trying to surprise them with a German theme. That way, she can let you know what traditions she is fond of (and they won't snicker at you for years to come like my husband and I do at my Aunt.)
