I need some ideas for a theme for my mother's 50th Surprise birthday party. I don't want to use the same old sayings. Her name is April.

i AM THROWING MY SISTER A 'hot mama" theme for her 50th and we are serving all kinds of Mexican food and the guests will dress like senoritas/cowgirls, cowboys, banditos, etc.

We ordered Mexican decorations and 50th birthday decorations too. The cake is strawberry margarita cheesecake. We'll play salsa music.

First of all - I never had a party in my honor - ever. so i am very nervious about celebrating my 50th with a party. my husband is not the kind to throw me a surprise party, so i am giving myself one. most people told me i should try vacationing at a place i never went before, but to me, that is yet another vacation.
i want a party! but not to go over the top. don't want it to turn out like a teenage one either.
i want something subtle and with gold - since it sparkles and make everything so beautiful.
it will be in my large back yard that i plan to decorate
any suggestions?

I am planning a surprise 50th bday party for my mother in March and I am planning on putting a photo album together of pictures throughout her life with little captions. I have also asked each guest to bring a photo they like of my mom and be prepared to write a caption on a note card to place in the photo album.

Also, I am putting together all the events such as top movies, books and tv shows as well as new events. I have found most of this information online. I will then type this information on some sort of quality paper to put in a book of some kind for her. I may even add it to the photo album.

GOOD LUCK!!!

for my moms 50th party we got her down there by making a fake invitation from one of my dads friends. we slipped it into the mail box and when she saw it, we convinced her to go. when she got there she was so surprised!

Well April rhymes with thrill, grill, till, nill, bill. When I had my husbands 50th I had all the guests write a memory of him from years ago or about an attribute. My daughter read them at the party and the birthday boy had to guess who wrote each item. It was loads of laughs and still he likes to read them and reminicse about the good ol days.

My family is throwing my mom a Surprise Party for her 50th Birthday. We have rented out our local Country Club and have everything planned and organizes. ALL we have left is figuring out how to get her there? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

RE: Surprise 50th Birthday Party

Well, if you've decided on having it on the day of her party, she's going to suspect every place you take her to will have a surprise party just waiting
for her. You could have it the day before, you know, so she's least suspecting. You could say that you met some new friends and they invited you and the family to play golf, ( or whatever they do there,) and she's invited as well. Then take her there and surprise her! Anyway, hope this helps.

On my 50th, my daughter simply asked if she could take me to lunch at a wonderful Mexican food restaurant...and I said, "sure"!!! lol We had a wonderful time and, tho my party was in my own home, I was totally shocked and surprised. I have to admit, I didn't suspect a thing...tho I should have when I wanted to stop at a craft store and she "just had to go to the bathroom too bad to stop"...lol Invite her to lunch or dinner, depending on the time of day the party is scheduled...for some special time together.

You may have to give away the surprise to the extent that you say you're taking her to a fancy restaurant. The surprise part will still be a surprise. Whatever excuse you decide on, just make sure that it's something that she would dress appropriately for. If you tell her you're taking her to a movie, it would be hard to explain why she needed to wear a cocktail dress and heels! :-)

For my Mother's 80th Birthday I told her that we were going to a sursprise birthday party for the mother of a friend of mine (who my Mother had met and really enjoyed her company). When we arrived my friend was standing outside and told us we had to hurry in because her mother would be there very soon and she was going to bring her in. She also said everyone was waiting with the lights out already--so she rushed both of us into the party room. The rest is history.

I agree with the first person that she needs to be dressed correctly, so she is happy about being suprised! She needs to be taken there by someone to make sure she arrives on time at the right place. She will probably suspect a family dinner but not the big suprise party.Buy her a crosage to present when you get to the country club.Have fun.

My friends teenage children did this as well. We told her they were taking her to an up market restaurant in the next town 20+ miles away. She suspected something and kept quizzing me but all I'd say was they had told me to dress for a restaurant but not which one they'd booked. Once outside town they said they had another surprise for her on the way and blindfolded her then drove around for 15 minutes before getting her out of the car, then took her blindfold off. We were at our local country club, 5 minutes from home, where all her friends were waiting outside. An extra surprise was her parents had come from the city and stayed overnight in a hotel so they could arrive after she did! They had also arranged for some long time friends of my friend and her late husband, from quite a way away, to be there as well which she definitely wasn't expecting!

Regards

Jo

My family did this for my grandfathers 60th b-day party. We just told him we were going out to dinner at the country club. We told him he couldn't wear jeans, he had to "dress up". I don't think he had any clue what so ever and everyone had a blast

I am looking for ideas for my boyfriend's 50th birthday party. I have a year to plan it, and it needs to be spectacular. I just went to a 60th birthday party-and it was the best party ever. The theme was SUSHI, SOKI, _____'S TURNING 60. It was a Japanese theme. Other Japanese food was cooked at the party also. For a landmark age, they also had a ROAST. Differnent people who have known the birthday man for years, and family, spoke of stories about him. It was very emotional and neat. Always keep music playing. Salsa music brings out the best in people. The people who threw this party always have outstanding parties.
