Cleaning a Plastic Cutting Board?

Bronze Feedback Medal for All Time! 109 Feedbacks

My mother has a cutting board. It is made of a type of white hard plastic. Over the years knives have cut into the surface and now those areas have darkened. My mother believes this is mold and has tried cleaning the board with bleach to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Yes, first bleach it for an hour or so. Then soak it in vinegar and salt. To remover the black smell. Safer also. Then soak once a week in the cheapest white vinegar you can find.
