Do your plastic coffee mugs have a soapy smell to them? Just soak them in vinegar overnight. If there is a leftover smell of vinegar re-soak in a sink full of hot water and baking soda.

Editor's Note: Probably a good way to remove the stale coffee smell that seems to accumulate in coffee mugs too.

Use baking soda on a sponge to clean the inside of your plastic mugs to remove coffee and tea stains and the soapy smell and any other smells will disappear from the mugs and leave them clean and fresh smelling again. Also works well on plastic dishes such as Melmac dishes----I am dating myself here now.
