Monitor Starts Up Dark and Flickers

Probably this is a question with an obvious answer, but I wanted to be sure before thinking of this kind of expense. My monitor has been flickering for a month. The screen is also very dark when first tuned on. Is this fixable? Or do I need to buy a new one? Thanks.
