Craft Project: Holiday Snowman Gourds

These guys are so easy to make and can be used as Christmas decorations, or as place setting for your dinner guest. Easy, and so cute!

Approximate Time: 2 hours

Supplies:

  • Salt (1 cup)
  • Glitter optional
  • Gourd
  • Water
  • Flour (4 cups)
  • Warm water (1 3/4 cup)
  • Paint
  • Felt /cloth scraps
  • Black marker
  • Pink/red pen or marker for cheeks (optional)
  • Glue stick
  • Bowl for mixing dough

Instructions:

  1. Mix water, flour and salt in a bowl and knead for about 10 minutes

  2. Model into arm and leg shapes. Roll arms and legs like snakes and shape to the gourd.

  3. Bake arms and legs at 300 degrees Fahrenheit until they harden. (DO NOT BAKE GOURD) let them cool.

  4. Glue the arms and legs to gourd.

  5. Paint white.

  6. Use pen for face and if you want give gourd pink cheeks.

  7. Cut scraps for scarf and hat.

For name tags:

Just form square rectangles out of the dough and bake then paint with bright colors, the name's of your guest and glitter. Then, when the dinner is over give to your guest as a home made present.

These guys can be used as Christmas decorations or place setting for dinner guest.

My old stomping grounds! I went to 9th grade there and still have friends in Stanwood. I love the idea. Very cute!
