Creating a Cactus Dish Garden
By Ellen Brown

Those of us who garden in the cooler zones are denied the rewards and challenges of landscaping with desert succulents (at least most of the year). Fortunately, we can bring a mini version of those interesting desert plants indoors by creating a cactus dish garden. Cactus dish gardens are easy to care for and maintain, and they make inexpensive long-lasting gifts for office co-workers, neighbors or fellow plant enthusiasts. Since cacti appreciate dry winter air, now is a great time to introduce them into your indoor landscape.

Freedom Belle and Liberty Belle

Freedom Belle is 8 to 12 years old. She was adopted, so I am not sure of her age. She is a domestic short hair Tortie.

I got this precious gal 3 years ago. I was on the internet checking into local Humane Society volunteer work and decided to click on the cat pictures. It was an omen! The first picture I clicked on was almost a duplicate of what my other cat looked like!

She is just a cuddle cat that kisses me with licks.

She was at the humane society for 5 months and was on the list to be put to sleep, since I freed her I named her Freedom Belle and my other cat had the name of Liberty Belle.

Freedom Belle

Liberty Belle is 4 years old. She is also a DSH Tortie.

I got her on 9/11 the day of my birthday and terrorist attack. I was depressed by tv news coverage. To get out I went to Petco and a man was standing out front giving away 3 week old orphans. I had no intention of replacing my cat that died of old age a few months earlier, but I could not resist, I needed comfort and a birthday gift and she needed a home!

She was a teeny 3 week old kitten and is now a 15 pound gal!

Bleach Bottle Santa Door Decoration
By Kim Davis

This is a cute, unique Christmas door decoration that can be made without too much bother or artistic ability. It recycles that empty bleach bottle, too. I've gotten lots of comments about how cute he is.

Sequined Ornament
By Kelli Mahoney

Christmastime is a great time to get the family together to create ornaments for your tree. When I was growing up, we used to make new ornaments every year, so that now there are memories hung up all over our tree. This project is a simple way to add some glitter to your tree this year.

Saving Money on Gifts for Extended Family

This year money is especially tight so I decided to challenge myself a little. I decided to try to spend $5 or less per person for our extended family. I have been able to do that and have come up with some wonderful gifts! It's really not hard to come up with nice things for just a little money!

Car Buying Tip 7 - Say No To Coffee, Yes To Water

Don't accept coffee at the dealership. It will make you edgy. Do bring an ample supply of water and drink frequently. Why? First, it will keep you alert, and second, it will allow you to go to the restroom frequently, where you can collect yourself and look over your notes to make sure you are on track. It will also break the tension and the salesman's intimidation over you. Who can argue with a bathroom break!

Creative Ways to Hang a Window Frame

I am needing some rustic, farm-like ideas for a way to hang a window frame that has a quilt attached to it. You can see the quilt squares through the window panes. It is going to hang over the head of the bed.

Update: I have posted this earlier under a different category. I am trying to come up with a creative way to hang an old window that has a quilt attached to the back so that the quilt squares show through the window panes. It is going over the head of the bed. Someone mentioned a rake head. How would that work exactly? I need any other ideas. Obviously it is not a formal setting, but very casual/country.

Thanks!

Pitbull Puppy That Bites

My puppy is about 10 weeks old and it's my first. He's a pitbull and he bites a lot. When I tell him "No" he seems to get excited and tries to bite more. He has little blood spots on him, I'm guessing my cat did that because he tries to bite the cat everytime she comes in the house. I was wondering if i should take him to the vet. I don't walk him much since it's winter because I think it's too cold for him? Is it ok for me to still walk him when it's cold? Also, I was gonna give him a flea bath but I dont know if those spots would hurt him becuase of the shampoo. Some help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Pudding Cake

When we were kids, (we're now in our late 40's), there was something called Pudding Cake. My dad brought the idea from living "in the country". It was a plain cake with warm sauce poured over it. We're frantically looking for the recipe for that sauce. Does anybody know of this Kentucky country warm dessert? It is a delicious treat.

Storing Garlic

Does anyone have any advice on prolonging the shelf life of whole garlic. My mother-in-law just gave us an entire bag. We usually only buy bulbs as needed and thus store them in a bowl in the pantry. However, we have discovered in the past that if they are not used they seem to dehydrate and become bad after a few weeks.
