Quick Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 Tbsp. vegetable oil or softened butter
  • 3/4 cup water

Directions

Mix water and egg; beat. Add oil or butter. In another bowl combine flour, salt and baking powder; add liquids and knead lightly. Heat 2 Tbsp. oil in a 12 inch skillet. Press dough into skillet, then flip it over so the top is greased. Over low heat and loosely covered, fry until slightly raised and lightly browned, then turn over and do the other side. Serve warm with butter and honey or jam, or can be used like biscuits and served with gravy.
