Ingredients
- 2 lb. ground beef
- 1 large green pepper, chopped
- 2 cans diced tomatoes, undrained (14oz. each)
- 2 cans tomato sauce (8oz. each)
- 1 can tomato paste (6oz.)
- 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. celery salt or celery seed
- 2 tsp. onion salt or onion powder
- 1 tsp. paprika
- 1/4-1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 3 bay leaves
- 16 hamburger buns, split
Directions
In a Dutch oven or large kettle, cook the ground beef and green pepper over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste and seasonings. Bring meat mixture to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and cook over low heat for 30 minutes. Uncover; cook 30-40 minutes longer or until thickened. Discard the bay leaves. Serve 1/2 cup of meat mixture on each bun.
