Keep a disposable camera in your car's glove box. In the event you are involved in a car accident, you can take photos of any cars involved as well as the scene of the accident to protect your interests.

This is where camera phones come in handy.

I also have a miniature digital camera that cost <$50 when I bought it but could probably be had for <$20 these days. I don't use it much because a) it's a pain to retrieve the photos, b) I'm usually carrying my digital SLR or at least my camera phone and c) the AAA battery is usually dead.

That being said, a couple of spare AAA batteries with the camera would be a big help and, in the case of an accident, retrieving the photos is no more problematic than getting film developed. Just do it very soon after the accident so you don't lose the pictures due to a dead battery.

My husband kept a disposable camera in his car but unfortunately the pictures didn't develop. He was told it was due to the temperature. He was told to keep it out of hot or cold temperatures.
