For me, far and away, a Charlie Brown Christmas is my Yuletide multimedia of choice. The moment I hear those first chords of "Christmastime Is Here," I'm suddenly a tyke back in 1965 again, and I can smell my parents' real Christmas tree, and taste my mom's cookies, struffoli, and fruitcake.

As a Christmas film that's geared for kids, I think the Polar Express is deeply flawed, but for some sick reason, I like it anyway.

And being Jean Shepherd fan since my age was in single digits, I like A Christmas Story. I remember hearing Shep tell those stories on the radio by the light of the radio dial.

ELF!!! When this movie first came out and my kids wanted to go see it I groaned thinking "Oh no! Not ANOTHER stupid Christmas movie!" Well, Will Farrell had me laughing so hard I literally embarassed my kids! lol! I loved it so much that I laughed all the way home! It's been on almost every night this week on different channels and I find myself STILL laughing at all my favorite parts! I LOVE THIS MOVIE! (I even bought the DVD last Christmas for ME!) :)

Does anyone have any TV specials they remember as being great Christmas movies? I have one that I remember called "The Story Lady" with Jessica Tandy.

I love Miracle on 34th Street (the original and in black and white only), It's a Wonderful Life and also Bells of St Mary (I agree, not really a Christmas movie but they do show it at Christmastime). I also love A Charlie Brown Christmas. And I bought each one of the above mentioned movies. And that is only part of my list.

A few TV Christmas movies my husband and I have watched so far: Crazy for Christmas, Comfort and Joy, Once Upon a Christmas, Twice Upon a Christmas and Mr. St. Nick. They were all worth watching. We also enjoyed The Polar Express, One Magic Christmas, All I want for Christmas 1991, The Christmas Shoes, The Three Godfathers, It's a Wonderful Life and Jingle All the Way. My all time favorite is The Bishop's Wife with Cary Grant.

Here, we like Holiday Inn and Little Women. At age 40 I still melt over Bing Crosby's voice.

My favorite cartoon is "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"! I love a lot of Christmas movies, but I really was touched by "The Christmas Box" with Richard Thomas in it.
Merry CHRISTmas to you all!

It's a Wonderful Life with Jimmy Stewart. I too have never seen a Christmas Story. Hmmm.

I did love the Bishop's Wife with Cary Grant too. What a beautiful story.

God Bless to all.

No need to even think about this; my favorite Christmas movie is "It's A Wonderful Life". Although I watch and enjoy all the Christmas movies & specials, 'Wonderful Life' will always be the one for me.
And I have a confession to make; I have never seen
"A Christmas Story"... My friends think this is strange!!

My favorite is the original "Miracle on 34th Street" starring Natalie Wood, the cutest little movie star ever (in my opinion). The remake cannot hold a candle to it, but it is a great story regardless of which version you watch.

Hands down the very best Christmas movie is "The Bishop's Wife" w/Cary Grant, David Niven and Loretta Young. When Cary tells the story of the Twenty-third Psalm, it always brings tears to my eyes. If you've never seen it, you are missing a blessing.

It's not necessarily a Christmas movie - "The Bells of St. Mary's" with Bing Crosby. They usually run it at Christmas, tho. I remember watching that with my Mom every year. She would let me have potato chips and soda while we watched it. My Mom has been gone for almost thirty years, now. I still watch it when the stations run it, only sometimes now it does make the tears flow. I still miss my Mom, especially at Christmas.

My favorite is the Little Drummer Boy. It makes me cry every time that I watch it! I like all the other Rankin/Bass clay animation movies as well. Where I live, in Cleveland, Ohio there used to be a local personality, who was known as Mr. Jing-a-ling (the keeper of the key). He was on T.V. and could also be seen at a local department store. I remember eagerly watching the show and then begging my mother to take me to see him. I have very found memories of this.

The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (both the older cartoon and the Jim Carrey re-make), Charlie Brown, and the Polar Express movie with Tom Hanks is really nice too.

I too have watched "A Christmas Story" for years! I can remember when it first came out back in the mid 1980s and my parents said, "Oh, we should check this out". So now, 20+ years later, like Lisa we have watched it every year. My cousins, aunts and uncles too can all quote almost every line of the movie ... so to all of you fellow Thrifty Fun peeps out there ... remember: "You'll shoot your eye out!!!" and don't stick your tongue to any flagpoles :)

By far my favorite is "A Christmas Story". I have always been facinated with that era when times were simple. And the kids played their roles so genuinely. They really acted like kids rather than small adults as they often appear in films or TV.

We usually watch or have that movie running all day on Christmas Day. It's become our Christmas tradition.
