Supplies:

  • 2 sheets of tissue paper
  • 1- 4 inch round white paper crafting coaster or cut out cardboard circle
  • 2 yards net tulle (5 inches wide)
  • 1- 2 inch barrette
  • toothpick
  • white glue
  • hot glue gun and glue

Instructions:

  1. From the tissue paper cut out 23 round circles. I folded each sheet until it had enough room for one 4 inch circle then I cut it out. They do not need to be perfect. Circles of Blue Tissue Paper

  2. Take your circles one at a time and fold in half then squish the bottoms together. Pinched piece of blue tissue paper

  3. Spread a little and add a touch of white glue to the white coaster. Begin on the outside and glue them down until you have completed the entire circle. Coaster edged in tissue paper

  4. Add glue to the coaster for the second layer and continue as you did with the first one. Complete the coaster with the round tissue paper disks until the entire coaster is colored. Tissue paper pompom

  5. Next turn over the circle and take the net tulle and begin gluing it down with the hot glue leaving a pleat as you go. Use a toothpick to help you pleat it. Pleated tulle

  6. Do this until you have completed the entire circle. When you get to the beginning overlap your material so you can't see it. Round of tulle

  7. Find the ends of the finished net tulle and make sure it is in the back. Glue the barrette to the middle of the back of the circle so it doesn't show the raw ends of the net tulle. barrette attached to back of fascinator

  8. Fluff your flower on the opposite side and inspect for any "glue hairs" and remove them. Handmade Blue Fascinator

  9. Now you have a beautiful English Fascinator to wear to special occasions.

Suggestions: You can also use more of the tulle to make a veil over the face if you plan to use it in a wedding. Use a silk flower instead of the paper circles for more sophistication. If you don't have white coasters just cut a 4 inch circle out of cardboard.

This project is wonderful. Thank you for posting with easy to follow directions and beautiful photos. I was in awe at most of the Royal Wedding head pieces especially their $400.+ price tags. : )
