To organize my girls smaller toys, I filled see through bins with the toys, took a picture with my digital camera of one or two of the items that were inside (for example) jewelry or little people. Then printed the pictures out on the computer. Then using contact paper I attached the pictures to the outside of the tub.

Now the girls know where things go (since they can't read yet) and there are no excuses when it is clean up time.

I also do this. Sometimes I use the photos from the packaging that the toys come in or inserts that are trying to sell me the latest and greatest toy.
Then I don't have to waste my ink printing out the image. Clear packing tape can hold the photos on also. I also put the photos on all sides of the box and lid.

I also prefer the clear boxes with the sliding locks on them, rather than the snap on ones. They are easier for my 2 year old to open & close herself.
