Pouring Ketchup Faster

When you have a sluggish ketchup bottle, push a drinking straw to the bottom and then remove it. This will allow enough air to start the the ketchup flowing.

The drinking straw thing does work, but it's m-e-s-s-y! I just give the bottle a few good shakes before opening, with the last shake sending it toward the end you'll be opening.

Good idea, also never hold ketchup upside down to get out. Always hold it sideways and gently tape side not bottom of the bottle. It lets air into the bottle. Kethcup is suppose to be slow it's worth the wait.

Ketchup Tip

Don't just pound on the bottom of a stubborn ketchup bottle. Run the blade of a table knife around the inside of the neck; then tip the bottle and watch the ketchup flow. When you've finished a bottle of ketchup, make use of the residue: add a little water or vinegar and shake, then use the liquid to enliven soups, stews, or salad dressings. By Joesgirl (01/05/2005)

RE: Pouring Ketchup Faster

I bought a bottle of ketchup that sits upside down. The cap is on the bottom. It is a plastic squeeze bottle. I don't even remember the brand. If this is not the brand you prefer, when it is empty, refill it with your favorite brand. Or to save even more money, buy the ketchup in a gallon can. After you open it, store in the refrigerator in large glass or plastic container. Ketchup does not spoil after opening, if it is refrigerated. And you can buy a gallon for about the same money as 3 bottles. (01/06/2005)

Best way to get ketchup out of the bottle nicely, is to lightly tap on the label, while holding it at an angle.(06/03/2005)

I'm a waitress and know the tricks. You never want to keep ketchup out of the fridge cause if it gets too warm, the gases inside make it explode when you open it. Yuck. But its OK to run under warm water before you use it. It won't raise the temp too much, but will make it run out like salad dressing! (01/23/2006)

RE: Pouring Ketchup Faster

Before opening the bottle, hold it upside down and flick your wrist so the ketchup is at the end of the bottle. Open the end and squeeze/pour out the ketchup. (04/19/2006)

This tip works! Just tap on the number "57" on the side of the bottle as you tip the open end towards your plate. It comes out great.

BTW, Knives work too, but in a restaurant, I'd be afraid someone had put their dirty knife into the jar. bleh! germs! (11/02/2006)
