RE: Using Centerpieces as Prizes
You can buy cheap baskets and putt pastel colored soaps, body wash, hand cream and small hand towels. If you want to give the gift to the mother buy some kids books and or stuffed animals for the center of the table or make Chocolate baby themed suckers for each setting.

RE: Using Centerpieces as Prizes
When we had our Ladies' Spring Awakening at church, we made flower pens. Just buy Bic ink pens, take a silk flower and wrap it to the top of the pen with floral tape. (Leave about an inch of the tip untaped.) They you can get some of the votive candle holders that look like flower pots. Put some river pebbles in the bottom and stick the pens in there. You have a flower arrangement(s) and the pens can be the gifts. If you buy a few candles to go in there too, you can give these to the new mom for when she gets a few minutes to relax.

RE: Using Centerpieces as Prizes
I went to a seminar and the table was decorated with a clear glass plate and clear glass bowl. Both matched. On the plate the bowl was placed and around the bowl was placed potpourri. In the bowl was water, sparkles and a floating candle. It was beautiful and I have since done it myself for my home. I have also done the same with clear cup and saucer. Try it out yourself and see. The dollar store sells everything you need for a great price.

A pretty houseplant or silk flower arrangement would last longer than cut flowers. Simply add "baby" accents that stick into the pots and can later be removed by the winner.

We made crocheted was clothes and folded them into diapers and placed blue and pinl baby pns on the cheap and nice to decorate tables put them all in the basket in middle of table and each person takes one home them out of the basket. Nice center piece and each person leaves with a gift. We did them in baby colors, I forgot tot mention that. Good luck

RE: Using Centerpieces as Prizes
---> Instead of a giving away the centerpiece to the people attending the shower, how about instead giving it away to the mom-to-be? Why don't you make (or buy) a "Diaper cake". These centerpieces are both beautiful & functional & they look like fancy decorated "cakes" & make a great gift for the new mom because when the "cakes" are taken apart, they are made from quite a few diapers (usually newborn size). These disposable diapers can then be used for the new baby!... When these "cakes" are made, the diapers can either be left flat or they can be rolled up. Either way, they are then placed in concentric circles & held in place with a fancy ribbon & glue.

================================================================ A second idea: How about one of those "edible type arrangements"... You can make one yourself using chocolate, grapes & other high quality treats. Put them on skewers then stick them into spray painted or covered foam along with silk leaves & flowers in "baby" colors.

RE: Using Centerpieces as Prizes
How about a towel cake? They make great centerpieces and great prizes. They are made with 2 regular towels, 2 hand towels and 2 washcloths. You can decorate them any way you want for any occasion. Here is a link with easy instructions on making a towel cake. If you scroll down you will see lots and lots of pictures of towel cakes for various occasions, I'm sure you can get some good ideas on how to decorate the cake at this site. http://www.creative-baby-shower-ideas.com/towel-cake.html
I like the idea of giving centerpieces as prizes, you kill 2 birds with one stone and save money in the process. Thanks for the tip.

RE: Using Centerpieces as Prizes
Maybe this is too ordinary but why not a pretty flower arrangement? I know I'd like one because I won't buy them for myself. It could just be an inexpensive vase with a couple of roses or tulips and tied with a ribbon.
