Since I have a very shady yard I have planted my favorite flowers (Star Gazer Lilies) in pots which I can move around for best sunlight and also enjoy their beautiful fragrance. This is the second year they have bloomed in these pots.

I was recently given some pot planted Star Gazers and even though I have browsed the net I am not too confident in caring for them. Any advice for me?

Hello, do you have any starts of these flowers, that you would sell? Please let me know, thanks, Donita.

I too love the stargazer lilies. Here in Alaska I start mine in the house about every two weeks. This way I get a new flower every week or so. I have about 10 different collors, but the stargazer is my all time favorite. It is nice to know others like them too.

Jean,

Lilies love FULL sun!!! Definitely get some and try them. They only tolerate shade and will bend toward the light ...but will still bloom in the shade. Notice that Granits said that she moved the pots around in her yard for the best light. Lilies do best with the most sunlight you can give them.

The fragrance of the oriental lilies, such as the stargazer lily, is wondeful. Lots of oriental lilies are available from different nurseries.

Martagon lilies can grow in shade and do not need nearly the amount of sunlight as the other kinds of lilies.

Those are so beautiful! If my yard weren't full sun, both front and back yard, I definitely would try those out. Some day we will have trees, probably when I am 102 years old.
