(Guest Post) I have the same problem with my glass top (black) stove. I put aluminum foil down for a second and it seems that it is baked into the glass. I have used the "glass top" cleaners, I used the razor blade but I haven't tried the oven cleaner that's next. I hate this stove, really. I prefer gas, the glass top works works great after living in Germany where you really don't have a stove or oven, but the clean up isn't so easy as I have been told and now experience. The foil is not stuck. Any suggestions on getting it off? I've been scrubbing with baking soda vinegar paste. Using a non abrasive scratch pad. It won"t come off. Buy the bottle with the trigger and spray on cook top and leave for 5 minutes. This cleans beautifully then shine with windex. Take Care. Yes all the other recommendations work but Charlie's Soap is best. I use Weiman cream type cleaner/protectant in a white bottle, also they have scrubbing pads that I use with this to clean stuborn stains. This cleans really good. Just follow directions. The pads come 3 to a package and are red in color. I bought mine at Walmart. Hope this helps. I usually easily wipe up everything as soon as I take the pans from the stove during cooking and then don't even have to turn the burners on later to scrub. It's abrasive enough to clean the stove surface but not abrasive enough to hurt it. The stove top cleaner works best for this surface. If you cannot find it, the main ingredient is alcohol. Try lettings some plain old rubbing alcohol sit on the marks for 10 to 15 minutes- then wash with warm soapy water. Also orange cleaners or lemon juice could be another alternative. Those stubborn burn marks may take a couple of cleanings-letting the cleanser sit for a while makes it come up better. It works even better if you turn the burner on low for just a minute and then turn it off. The surface should be warm, but not so warm that you can't touch it. Then spray on the oven cleaner and let it set for awhile. (If the surface is too warm, the oven cleaner will just evaporate.) Make sure you have your windows open and that others aren't around when you do this! Make sure to get the BLUE ones - they are non-scratch. GE actually included a sample with my ceramic topped stove. Wet the area and sprinkle generously with baking soda. Scrub away!
