Gizmo Fletcher is 5 years old and a Peekapoo. Unfortunatly, Gizmo's mom and dad got divorced and since we were good friends, they blessed us with him. He is the best dog, snores and eats a lot (just like a man), lol! He loves to play fetch outside. and lay in your lap on his back. By battlespire from Leesville, LA Contest Contender!

Stacey is a 5 year old calico. I got here through Adopt An Angel. She likes to eat and lay in grass. When I adopted her, she was wild. She is still somewhat wild, but has tamed down through the years. She doesn't want me to hold her. I was told, when I adopted her, that she nursed another cat's kittens. I don't know what happened to the mother. She doesn't kill birds or squirrels. Isn't she beautiful? She has many male callers. By Hope from Wilmington,NC Contest Contender!

Roast And Slice Your Own Lunch Meats We've already been brown-bagging lunches for a long time, but with food prices having shot up to their present level, even doing that is a budget- juggling act some weeks. One day, I took a good hard look at where else I could possibly cut back as far as the grocery bill was concerned; my husband takes a salad and a sandwich daily, and I figured that the packaged cold cuts I was using averaged out to about $8.00 a pound! Even using store brand, fresh deli-cut or taking advantage of sales on different name brands didn't make a significant difference. I've cut the cost by more than half by buying roasts, turkey breasts, whole chickens and turkeys and ham as they rotate on sale and roasting them solely for lunch meats. We picked up a small meat slicer at a yard sale for ten bucks and the DH is in charge of shaving it thin. It can be frozen and defrosted in weekly batches. A little extra work, but the lunch roasts can be thrown in the oven along with anything else that might be cooking for a dinner, so we're saving a little energy, too! I am planning on doing a "spa basket" for my grown girls for Christmas this year. So I am making a stop at the dollar store frequently for goodies to put in such as lotions, makeup, oh, my the list goes on and on. I am also making homemade brown sugar scrub to add something special, along with a crocheted washcloth. Closer to Christmas, add some edibles such as a big Cadbury Chocolate bar (decadent but only about $1 for a large bar!) Here is how you make the scrub: Dump about 1/2 cup brown sugar into a bowl and add 1/2 cup olive oil. You can also add a drop or 2 of essential oil, if you like. Have fun! Keep your eye out for goodies for your basket (or bag, or bucket :) at yard sales NOW. You can also do a vintage themed basket, or whatever decor suits the individual. I do a snack one for the boys and include sports mags (which you can sometimes get free on spoofy.com) beef jerkey, comfy socks, etc. By joynchocolate from Landisville, PA Contest Contender!

All my current cameras are digital; and that in itself helps them to be organized. When I take a disc to load unto my computer, I put it under "camera, to be organized." When time allows (now or later), I go through and sort all the pictures into folders according to event, person, etc. This is what I did for my older photos. Over a long period of time, I took pages out of my albums and scanned them into the computer. DO NOT remove your photos from albums, as this might destroy and/or scar your photos. Then again, when time allowed, I went through this folder and since each page has multiple pictures, I used a cut and paste program available with the photo program already in my computer, and put them once again in the correct folders. As I "clean up" these sources, I erased the original file in my computer (since now everything would be duplicated!) It does not happen overnight; these processes took some time, but each time I dedicated some time to work on them, I was filled with my memories and found the time to pass quickly and enjoyably. Also good is that when I got done with, for instance: Alex (my son), I burned a disc and sent it to him. Now he and his wife have copies of all his baby pictures and more as he grew up. A nice way to pass along your family history. I hope this helps, just take it easy and don't rush. By Mercedes from Springfield, OH Contest Contender!

Cool Heated Baby Bottle In Refrigerated Water I learned this tip when my kids were babies and screaming for their bottle. If you are the type that makes up a bottle as and when you need to, chances are that it is ALWAYS too hot for baby. I got around this by leaving a pitcher of water in the fridge so I could pop the made up bottle in the pitcher of cold water to cool it down to the right temperature in no time! I would put the pitcher with the bottle in it on the table and by the time I've picked up the baby and settled down in my chair, the bottle is perfect. Voila! No more screaming baby! Break Your Dishwasher Tabs In Half Make your dishwasher tabs go twice as far! Buy only the dishwasher detergent in tablet form so it can be broken in half. Use just one half for each load unless running a very soiled load. Dishes get just as clean and the box lasts twice as long! Also, there is a $2.25 coupon for these tabs on a regular basis that often coincides with a grocery store special. Source: My frugal self - just tried it a few times and was convinced! There are two different methods I use because I pay some bills with a check and others using my credit card. If paying with a check, when the bill comes in the mail, immediately upon opening it I write a check and get the envelope ready. On the inside of the envelope flap, I write the date it is to be mailed (allowing about 3-4 days mailing time) and put the stamp on the envelope. I place this envelope a plastic mail holder that has 31 different slots; one day for each day of the month (example: #25 for the 25th of the month). When that day arrives, I know to mail that envelope, so seal it and mail it. I don't mail until then because I don't want the funds drawn out of my account until necessary, allowing me to draw interest on that money, not the company collecting my check. If it is a credit card I am paying the bill with, I simply put that bill in the slot on the day I am to call and pay that bill. When the call is completed, I make a note on the bill of the day it was paid, the amount, and confirmation number along with the persons name that took payment. I then file the paperwork knowing it has been paid and it's out of my way! Works for me! Source: Learned from lady I used to work for. By kk22kk22 from Ft. Collins, CO Contest Contender!

Rate It: I have a lovely girl, who is some sort of a hound. I was hoping to get some ideas of which kind she is. She came to us by a concerned woman who found her emaciated and barely able to walk on the highway. She was promptly named Grace which later turned into Gracie, and she is so happy now that she has been vetted but is still not feeling 100 percent since she only weighs 40 pounds and is skin and bones. If you can tell what kind of hound she is I would love some input. I have never had any experience fostering a hound, but she is soo sweet and smart. I will probably try to place her in a specialized foster home and in the meantime smother her with love and kisses and fill her belly. She is on a gaining-weight diet of cookies made of ground beef, oatmeal, egg yolks, wheat germ, salt, oil and Total cereal. I cooked and then froze them on a cookie sheet and now I microwave about two or three a day for her to help her gain weight in the next two weeks, before her next parvo booster. Any help about gaining weight on her would be appreciated too. By Robyn Fed from Hampton, TN

Rate It: I'm letting my nails grow out from gel wraps and Acrylic nails. I've been cutting them short, but now that they are half "my nail" and half what's left of the Gel nail, I can see how soft and weak they are. Should I remove the remaining Gel part? IF yes, how? Should I let it grow out on it's own? I know that very soon what's left of the Gel is going to pop off. What's the best thing to do to help the new nail that's coming in? What do I do once it's all grown out to strengthen them? Please help. I tried to let them grow out once before, but my real nails were so thin they bled and hurt so I went back to the Gels. I don't want to do that this time. Thank you for any help you can give. By MAK13 Post Feedback: http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf817429.tip.html

Rate It: Please help. All of the suggestions for how to clean stains from clothing are wonderful, but I'm trying to solve the mystery of what is causing stains on my laundry. My washing machine is only about 3 years old. Lately, every time I do a load of shirts, the colored ones come out with stains on them that they did not have originally. This is not occurring with my whites. I switched to clear liquid ALL, stopped using softener and the colors are still coming out with stains.
