Cheap Candle Snuffer
It is better to snuff out a candle then to blow it out (the embers can flare out) but I did not want to buy a candle snuffer. I took an empty Progresso soup can and it works great, even over bigger candles.

Editor's Note: You could also decorate the outside of the candle snuffer with contact paper.

I just bend the wick over into the wax to put it out. Then it doesnt smoke at all. Of course I pop the wick back up right away so it cools and hardens straight for next time. I have an old nail file that works great---using the smooth metal handle end.

I use an old 'jigger' (mix drink measure) to snuf my candles. It has 2 sides for any size candle. Found mine in a garage sale for a dime.

That's correct! Thanks. I fixed it.

I assume you mean cover the outside of the candle SNUFFER with contact paper. I'm sure other brands of cans will also work well also.
