With 5 kids in the house, we are always looking for their mitts especially for a matching pair. I took some twine and tied it to both ends of the shelf and used clothespins to hang them up. This works for drying them at the same time. It would probably work if you hang some twine on the wall as well.

We have an entry porch where this idea will be put to use today! This is going to be very helpful, thank-you:)
I think because our porch is so narrow that I'll hang a twine across the wall above where we have the coat rack. The other side of the porch is where we have a wall hanging appointment calendar, and underneath a space for our wellies and other outdoor boots.
