If you have an indoor/outdoor mat with a black rubber border around it, you can extend its lifespan when the black rubber border gets ripped or a chunk gets torn out of it. Just cut off the entire black rubber border around the perimeter of the mat with a pair of scissors or a utility knife. It can then still be used to wipe your feet and doesn't look out of the ordinary.
