Does anyone know what the name of the plant is that looks like a crape myrtle, but is actually a tree?

Thanks,

It's probably a crepe myrtle that is older. If you leave crepe myrtles long enough, and have a central stalk, they will eventually grow into a lovely tree.

Holly,
It's quite possible it is a crepe myrtle, they are used quite a bit in the DFW area in landscaping. I have several that are 20-25 ft tall in my yard and began shaping them from the bottom when they were young. If you want them that large just be sure and ask they nursery what type they are and what height they'll reach.
