I thought some of you may like a link to making a pattern to cover your resin patio chairs. These are the plastic chairs that you use outside. I have been in a real pickle as what to do for seating for my son's 16th birthday party. I already had 5 resin chairs but I had not even thought of using them and was trying to find a way to purchase 12 chairs in a reasonable amount of time and expense as his birthday was coming up fast. Then I got the idea that I would use the 5 resin chairs I had plus go buy 7 more for a few bucks a piece.
I figured I could find a pattern online to cover them and I spent 5 days looking for one, lol, but I finally found one and it's quite simple and I am tickled to pieces over it, so I thought I would share the wealth.
It's from HGTV (Home and Garden Television). When you open the page, the general directions are on that main page but if you look to the left, it has pdf files you can open that shows how you measure your pattern. I am literally the worst sewer in the world but I did these. I am so serious when I say I bite at sewing, I use no sew tape for everything, lol. But sewing these was a breeze. I hope this helps anyone looking for a pattern to dress up those chairs.
P.S. Now I have chairs to use for a larger Thanksgiving turn out, Christmas, anniversaries, etc. And resin chairs take up very little space when stacked and can go to the shed out of the way when not in use. All you have to store is the covers, if you are really good at sewing you could even make reversible covers for easy switch out for different occasions. Good luck and have a thriftyfun day.
P.P.S. I suggest printing a copy of the directions and pattern, you know how links are, there one day, gone the next, so I would print it so you know you have it, should the link expire.

Thank you Angela! The link came right up from your posting and I printed it out. There was, however a commercially printed pattern in one of the catalogs (i.e. Simplicity, McCalls or the like).. no longer in the catalogs and none of the store folks seem to remember it. Thanks to you, now I don't need it! Happy yard parties! Karen

Check out the ready made covers for resin chairs at www.klassykovers.com or www.solutions.com. They give a "klassy" look to those old chairs. They are $49.95 for a set of 4 (costs less per chair than buying the fabric and spending time making them) Solutions includes a zippered tote for storage when not in use.

I too searched the net for resin chair covers and found them to be way more then the cost of the chairs. Am tickled to find this pattern and I look forward to making the covers with fabric I already have.

Kitty, The link was completely there had you clicked on click here in my originoal post... By the way I did not do that, I guess whoever previewed my tip submission made it a click here link instead of listing it out but no matter it is a complete link no matter what.
It is also a link that is still there I just checked again to make sure. You may not be able to access it because of your firewall or something and it is saying the page you are requesting can not be found. Check your firewall and adjust accordingly so you can view it. It is there and easy to navigate.
Here is the entire link as you requested http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/cda/articl ... 1375683_ARTICLE-DETAIL-PRINT,00.html
but like I said if you clicked on click here in my origional post it would of taken you there.
Hope this helped

Here's how to find it:
1. click on: the first link above. 2. seach: cover patio chair 3. click on: Slip Into Summer
This looks great! I like to sew, but I hate those ugly chairs, even though they're $2 out here. Get me some quilted material or some duck cloth. Don't get in my way. I'm old. I'm grumpy.

I would have appreciated the rest of the addy to the site...would have made the search easier for which particular pattern you made reference to but HGTV isn't too hard to navigate for any interested in viewing the directions.
