Ahchee (Chihuahua)

Ahchee is 8 years old and a Chihuahua. I got her from a lady the year my oldest son graduated from high school. She was my birthday present to myself, born 4 days after my birthday.

Ahchee loves to play fetch with her squirrel, and to chase the real ones outside - they have even learned to tease her! They'll just go a little ways up the tree - they know she's so short she can't reach them, despite the many times she jumps up and down. Then they'll turn nose down, tail up, and just tease her unmercifully, twittering and flicking their tails! It is so funny to watch! I can only imagine what they chatter to each other! And if she ever caught one, she wouldn't know what to do with it!!

My husband says if there was a fire, I would get Ahchee out before I got him. He's just teasing, of course, because he loves her as much as I do.

awww she's a beauty! I have a 5 year old Chihuahua,Dezzi. She was given to me from my husband for my "big 40" and has been such a joy.I was taking care of my 90 year old Grandmother at the time (which was a 24/7 job in my home for 10 years)I had very little time for myself and not much of a life.Dezzi became my "outlet"she is my heart and soul,I love her to death! We found out a few months ago that she is diabetic. So now she gets insulin shots twice a day and honestly she has been the best little thing for me.I think it's been harder on me that her.Oh by the way...Dezzi has a favorite toy too only hers is a Beaver! From here on out it will only be Chihuahua's for me! Thanks for sharing your story and picture.

I forgot to mention that my husband says the same thing about the house catching on fire!My 22 year old daughter always says I'd save the dog first. My only reply is ...you all know me to well! Of course I'd get them out first...with Dezzi tucked under my arm!!

I have an indoor cat, but I can totally relate to what you've said about your dog. I take my cat out on our deck, but she never jumps off. (I've trained her with the water hose.. I never actually sprayed her.) She loves to watch the chipmunks and squirrels. They tease her too. She is almost 14 yrs old, and we have grown very close. Frankly, I think she thinks she is a dog! lol

At any rate, I had to tell you how very much I enjoyed your story about your dog. You sound like a very nice person.

warm regards,
