Ginger Cookies

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. molasses
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 3 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves

Directions

Grease a cookie sheet. In a large bowl, cream together the shortening and sugar. Add the molasses, salt, and egg and blend well. In a separate bowl, sift together the dry ingredients. Blend into the creamed mixture. Shape the dough into small balls and roll in granulated sugar. Place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake in 350 degree F oven for 10-12 minutes. Makes about 6 dozen.

Ginger Cookies

Love these great, old-fashioned cookies. Love the molasses flavor.

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

Directions:

Heat shortening and sugar. Cool. Add beaten egg and molasses. Stir in dry ingredients. Mix well. Refrigerate dough. Roll into balls; dip in sugar and place on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F until light brown, about 10-12 minutes.

Servings: about 3-4 dozen cookies
Prep Time: 15-20 Minutes
Cooking Time: 10-12 Minutes
