Multiplication Game With Egg Cartons

Use your egg cartons before you throw them out! When they are empty, write a different number in each space; either 1-12 or 0-11. Then place 2 beans, coins or other small items in them and close the lid. Shake and reopen. Wherever your items landed, make your kid add or multiply the numbers together. If they get it right, then they get a point, whoever gets the most points wins.

I love to see how creative people can get. There's proably a game out there that costs $50 that gets the same result. I'm going to use this with my granddaughters. Keep coming up with those ideas!

This is a great idea, and kudos to you for helping your kids learn their times tables. I am a teacher, grade 7 & 8 mostly, and far too few of them know their multiplication tables well enough. When they do know them, they find the concepts we teach at the middle years very easy. If they don't, it is almost a losing battle. And so many "modern" teachers and math textbooks think that memorization of facts is hopelessly old fashioned.

This is a great idea, and I may even use it in my classes just as a review. This would make a great game.
