Decorative Oil Vases

Oil vases or bottles are a great way to spice up a kitchen or take up room on an empty shelf. They can be used as bookends or purely for decoration.

Decorative Oil Vases

Supplies:

  • vase or bottle with cork
  • baby oil
  • hot glue gun
  • ribbon (optional)
  • artificial or dried flowers
  • scissors

Directions:

  1. After selecting and gathering all your supplies, remove the cork from your bottle and set aside.
  2. Next you will want to cut and size the flowers and grasses you want to use in your bottle so they fit. Leaving some of the items long enough to create a slight bend in the stems can add a nice effect.
  3. Insert your flowers and greenery into the bottle; remember if you are using dried flowers to be very gentle so they stay in good condition.
  4. The next step is to carefully pour in the baby oil. Do not fill your bottle or vase to the top, stop about 1/2 an inch below where the cork will sit.
  5. Bead a small amount of hot glue around the cork before replacing it. This will help to seal the bottle so if it is over turned it shouldn't leak oil everywhere.
  6. Finally cut a piece of ribbon to decorate the neck of your bottle or vase if you like.

You might also want to have a pair of chopsticks when you do this. That way you can move things around if you need to.

I love this idea! I have a few bottles of baby oil given to me when my son was born that I will never use and this will make great use of them!

Great idea!
