Stocking Up on School Supplies
Stock up now during back-to-school sales on school supplies. During the year you will need more glue, markers, paper, notebooks, etc. and they will never be cheaper than they are right now! Store them all in one place, like a crate so you and your kids will know where to look before buying anything more. By Linda

Mixing Meatloaf and Other Sticky Things
When mixing meat loaf or patting marshmallow candy into a pan, kneading pizza dough etc., I first spray my hands with non-stick cooking spray. It keeps the food from sticking and washes off easily with soap and water. By M. Day, Ohio

Credit Cards and New College Students
If you are heading off to college or have child who is, watch out for the predatory practices of credit card companies. You may be surprised by just how easy it is for new students to get credit cards. New students are bombarded with credit card offers and guess what? If they apply they likely will be accepted and given a line of credit despite having no credit history. Credit card companies see students as a good investment since they either will get a college education and be able to cover their debt or their parents will bail them out. Advise your child or youself to avoid the Credit Card trap that awaits all new students.

Try this instead of mothballs.
1/2 cup whole cloves
1/2 cup whole black pepper corns
3 sticks of cinnamon bark, broken into small pieces
Cheesecloth
Mix the cloves, pepper corns and cinnomon bark together in a bowl. Then using double-layer cheesecloth, sew little pillows or make little bags to hold about 2 tablespoons of the mixture. Make little bags to hang in your closet and a little pillows to put in your drawers. You can also just sprinkle this mixture in areas that you want to prevent moths, but be careful, if comes into contact with clothing it can stain.

Re-use Dryer Sheets/Empty Sheet Boxes
I keep an empty square tissue box on a shelf above my dryer and save all used dryer sheets. They are especially good for putting in sock/underwear drawers to keep everything smelling fresh. I also use the empty dryer box which retains a lot of the perfume smell in my dirty clothes basket -- keeps dirty clothes from smelling up the closet! Used dryer sheets are the best for using to clean out the lint filter of the dryer too [old tip].

To shorten the cooking time of meat loaf, bake individual servings in a muffin pan. The smaller portions of the meat mixture cook more rapidly than a single loaf. To save even more time, use a microwave-safe muffin pan and cook your meat loaf muffins in the microwave! By M. Day, Ohio

Featured Feedback: RE: Acne on Forhead
I am 61 now; but, I use to be a teenager. I always dabbed whole milk, let it dry on my face and after it dried I gently washed it off with warm water and patted my face dry. I did this every night and it gets rid of zits, etc. most of the time.
By the way, I have people thinking I am in my early forties because my skin is so nice and smooth.

Featured Feedback: RE: Unusual Garden Decorations
I love ideas like this - the only limit is your imagination. Among my garden beds I have an old wheelbarrow, earthenware jars, white ceramic insulation things from old telegraph poles, a terracotta chimney, 3 iron wagon wheels, a wrought iron bed end and 2 rams skulls complete with horns! They all blend in with my natural native garden.

Featured Feedback: RE: Sewing Machine Recommendation
I just bought a sewing machine last week and had looked at a Kenmore and a White both on sale for about $100. Both were very basic with straight and zig zag stitches. My stepmom recommended the White. She had one for 30 years that she loved. The white is also metal and the Kenmore is plastic.
I bought the White and I'm loving it. I also do very basic sewing so I don't need much. But make sure you decide first whether or not you want a machine in a cabinet, in a built in case or free-standing (no case). Mine is the latter and I love the flexibility since I don't have a room for sewing or space for a cabinet model. I can use it on the kitchen table where the best light is and put it aside during dinner.
But I would check around for older models as suggested above. I've had some great machines that were about 1950's-1960's. Very reliable. I got our vacuum years ago used at a vacuum/sewing repair place. Maybe they have used sewing machines for a bargain price.
Good luck.

Today's Recipes: Flour Tortilla Pizza
1. Begin with a Flour tortilla . . any size will do. Place it on a plate that is microwave safe.
2. Spread a layer of pizza sauce on the tortilla, covering to the edge.
3. Add any ingredients that you have on hand that you would ordinarily put on a pizza: bell pepper, mushrooms, chopped onion, ripe olives, you get the idea.
4. Top off with a little shredded cheese.
5. Pop into the microwave for a minute or two, just long enough to melt the cheese.
6. Remove and cut into 6 or eight wedges and enjoy.
Note: I brown sausage and hamburger and crumble it just for these mini-pizzas.. Freeze on a cookie sheet and then transfer to a zip lock bag.

I am looking for lots of tasty recipes using zucchini. I was given one that we like from my neighbour. It is as follows: Saute onions and when partially cooked add sliced zucchini, and a little water and finish cooking. Then Add Cheez Whiz, or cheese sauce, salt and pepper. Heat through. I thought it was a side dish, but we eat it as a soup and really do like this. (I used 2 large onions, and 2 small zucchini, about 1/2 cup of water and 3/4 cup of Cheez Whiz.) - Pat in Kitchener, B.C.

Get Paid To Drive
By Jeffrey Strain
You may have heard rumors that it is possible to get paid to drive your car, or in some cases, get a car to use for free. While participation is limited and luck is needed along with living in the right place for a particular campaign, it is possible to get paid to have your car (or a car given to you) turned into a moving advertisement. If you drive 800 miles or more a month along heavily populated routes in your normal driving habits, you may want to check out the companies that offer car wraps.
