Craft Project: Lace Ornament

Make lace ornaments for your own tree or give as gifts to others. Since you have to wait for the glue to dry between layers, it's best to make several ornaments at the same time.

Approximate Time: 30 - 45 minutes.

Supplies:

  • Paper doilies
  • Scissors
  • Foam shape
  • Glue
  • White/clear glitter
  • Glitter pipe cleaner
  • Lace ribbon

Instructions:

  1. Cut a paper doily into small (not tiny) pieces, any shape. Set these aside.

  2. Spread glue over the surface of your foam shape and sprinkle white/clear glitter over the glue. Allow the glue to dry.

  3. Spread glue over the foam shape again, one section at a time, and press a piece or two of doily into the glue. Continue in the same manner to completely cover the foam shape. Allow the glue to dry.

  4. Once again, spread glue over the surface of the foam shape (and the doily pieces), to seal the ornament.

  5. Cut a 3 inch piece of glitter pipe cleaner, bend it into a loop, and push the ends of the pipe cleaner into the top of the ornament. This will enable you to use an ornament hook with it.

  6. Tie a length of lace ribbon around the bottom of the pipe cleaner loop.

So pretty! You could also make it over an old ball of yarn that isn't good enough for anything else! Use reds, greens, any color and have a wonderful lacy ornament!
