Molly (Dusky Conure) and Sammy (Sun Conure)
Here is a picture of Molly and Sammy. Molly is a 12 year old Dusky Conure. Sammy is a 13 year old Sun Conure. They love to play out of their cage. They want to eat whatever we are eating. They love spagehtti, ice cream, waffles, pancakes etc. There isn't much that they won't eat. They also talk and can be quite vocal at times!

This is our baby, R.J. He is a 7 yr. old Beagle mix. We got him 6 years ago from a newspaper ad for free after my husband and I both had lost our pet dog companions of many years. We weren't sure we wanted another pet to get attached to, but it didn't take long for R.J. to win our hearts with his loving attitude and bubbly personality. He seems to know and understand everything we say, and has filled our lives with so much joy.
He broke his back 1 1/2 yrs. ago, and could only drag his little back legs around. But he wouldn't give up, and after much vet services and TLC, and his great courage, he is doing great today. He now also has 2 spoiled cats which he helps look after, and worries about when they seem to "disappear" at times.
He also is quite a "ham" when it comes to posing for pictures! We are proud to submit his picture for the contest, and at the same time be a part of helping in the hurricane relief.

Several years ago I picked up a huge piece of material, the size of a twin bed, with a football field and player on it. My Grandson has loved to spread it on the floor and have his own football game on it. For his 6th birthday I thought it was time to put it together as a quilt that he could have for himself.
I bought cotton quilt batting and a sheet and quilted it by using the marked lines on the field as a pattern to go by. This I did by machine. I cut small slits and stuffed the player to give him dimension. A very simple project but a quilt he will cherish until his teenage years.

Today's Tips
We all know how hard it is to keep those little tubes of "Crazy Glue" free from "clogging-up" and standing upright, right?
So here's my tip... Take the lid off of one of those glass spice bottles that we all have at least one of around the house and set your crazy glue tube inside it upright! To keep it from clogging up, do this after each use. Just give the tube a slight, SLIGHT squeeze until you hear the "AIR" come out. Then leave it in an upright position and your tube will be ready to just squeeze and use! No more having to search for a sharp item and unclog the thing to use it!

When doing any craft work with a needle, I keep a hotel bar of soap handy, they are small, when you finish or need to sharpen your needle or it needs to slip in easy, wipe it down with the soap or poke end of needle in the soap. It makes it easy to use.

For a great wedding or shower gift, buy Christmas ornaments on sale after the holiday. When invited to a wedding or shower, fill a basket (you can purchase one at a thrift store) and fill it with ornaments for the couple's first Christmas.

Donating Hotel Shampoo Bottles
I am a Registered Nurse and also volunteer for the Red Cross and will be leaving shortly for the disaster in New Orleans. I just wanted to suggest a wonderful way to help your local shelter. I travel in my job and stay at motels. I always take the little shampoo, lotion and soap that is given out and I also ask my friends and relatives to do so as well. When I have enough I put them in a basket and deliver them to the local shelter so that they can give them out to people who really need them.

Caring for Clear Glass Shower Doors
My husband just remodeled my bathroom and I now have clear glass shower doors. My sister says she had to buy some shower spray by Tilex to spray each time she takes a shower to eliminate water spots? Is there a more reasonable frugal way to eliminate this problem? I haven't used it yet, but I did buy a squeegee to use. My husband wonders if vinegar would work or a combination of that and water? I just love this website!
Thanks for any suggestions.

We are about to re-decorate our entire house. We have chosen a dark red carpet for our bedrooms and a medium coloured blue carpet for the lounge and stairs, the name of the blue is Ocean. We are thinking of a gold/mustard colour for the bedroom walls and a mix of pale gold and pale yellow for the lounge wall. In the lounge, we have a stand out fireplace, this would be pale gold and everywhere else pale yellow. What do people think, I have no colour co-ordination at all?
Thanks.
Clare.

How do you remove the smell of rotten tomatoes?
I had a bag of tomatoes and I forgot about them on my kitchen counter. There was no room left in the refrigerator, so I figured they would be fine. After a couple of days, I noticed a rotten, foul smell. I put them in the garbage, and I cleaned the countertops and everything that was around it with an all purpose cleaner and then old dutch.
It's been over a month and no matter how many times I clean, the smell will not disappear. And... fruit flies will not go away! Does anyone have any solutions?
Thanks!
Leah

Tips for Losing 50 (or more) Pounds
I have tried everything to lose 60 pounds. Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Atkins, Walking, Fruit and Veggie only, Low carb, No carb, Jogging, Diet Club, Gallons of water, Everything in fact. I have been to my doctor and DO NOT need thyroid medication. I have inherited my mothers hips, thighs and buttocks. And fortunately also her sense of humor and tenacity.
I am about to turn 40. Any ideas on how to finally deal with this problem would be gratefully accepted. Because our good Lord knows, my ideas are not working up to this point.
Many grateful thanks,
Kim

Protecting Asparagus In The Winter
This request is for Ellen Brown. How can I protect my asparagus ferns from the winter months so they don't die back. Would covering them with plastic where they are hanging help them or hurt them? Do they require water during the winter if covered?
Any ideas you may have would be helpful.
Thank you.

First grease 2 Cake pans. Get a Medium size sauce pan and pour the sugar, chocolate chips and canned milk in then and bring to a boil stirring constantly.

So if Laurie, or anyone, would tell me how much milk and what kind I would appreciate the opportunity to make a fast and easy fudge. I love fudge, everyone I know loves fudge.
Thank you so much for your assistance!

Separating Stuck Together Pages
I stored some crafting books in my storage barn in a box for a couple of years because I didn't have room for them in my home and wasn't ready to part with them. While there, they ended up under a leak in the roof (Thanks hubby!) and got wet then dried. Some of them are now stuck together and the pages are stuck. Does anyone know of a way to get them separated without tearing the pages?

It's been a while since the last time I posted about my cabin. I went to WV and painted the bead board white. I just couldn't decide on what colors to pick, and you know white looks pretty good.
Now, Hubby is going to put trim up and I need to get ready to paint it. Of course, I'm not sure of the colors I picked. Here's what I'm doing. In the rooms that I put white on the bead board I'm also going to paint the trim white.
The living and kitchen area has wood that looks like barn wood, I was going to kinda dry brush it, but I decided to just leave it as it is. I found a color I liked I got in the mail it's called cottage green. I went to Lowes' and I tried to find a color to match it. Well, I found one and after it was mixed it's lighter then expected. It looks more like a sage green.
My question is do you think sage green would look OK on the trim, or should I go darker? When you paint trim, is it supposed to be darker than the walls or it does matter?
The wood in the living and kitchen area is already primed and it looks like it has a greenish tint to it. My hubby thinks it looks gray, of course he's colored blind so I can't go by what he says.
Any feedback greatly appreciated.
Pam
