Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3 1/2 - 4 cups flour
  • deep fryer or pan of oil - do not overfill
  • confectioner's sugar

Directions

Beat the eggs, milk, and sugar together. Stir in the salt and baking powder and beat until smooth. Stir in 3 and one half cups of flour, adding the remaining half cup as needed, because the batter should be thin enough to run through a funnel.

Drop dough from a funnel into pan of hot oil. Make spirals by swirling the funnel over the pan of hot oil. Fry until golden brown. Remove from oil with spatula and set cake on paper toweling to absorb excess oil. Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar.
