T-shirt and Iron for Kool-Aid Stains on Carpet

I spilled Hawaiian punch on my carpet and it dried a big red stain into my carpet. I tried resolve and spot shot and neither got them out by themselves. I found this website. Although it seems I couldn't find the original post. Here's how I got it out:

  1. Put dish soap and water on the stain and let it set for about a minute.

  2. Take a white t shirt and put it over the stain. Use the very edges so that you can repeat this step by using all the surface area of the t-shirt.

  3. Take hot iron and run it over the t-shirt that is over the stain. you will start to notice the stain transferring onto the t-shirt. In my case, at the end of this procedure, my t -shirt was almost completely red and it also took out a lot of dirt that one might not notice.

Repeat these steps until it is all gone. It's like magic!

Oh my gosh - this totally worked! I had a professional carpet cleaner come and say that there was no way to get a red Gatorade stain out of the carpet and, by golly, this worked! I'm so thrilled! It really is like a miracle! That stain had been in the carpet for at least a year, and it still came out. Try it!

I just got a brand new car a few weeks ago with light beige interior. It has good, thick, rubber floor mats so when my red sports drink accidentally fell from the console and the lid popped open I just wiped off the floor mat and thought there was no problem ~ until I went to vacuum my car out a week later. When I removed the floor mat I found where some of the red drink had gotten on the carpet right under the edge where it couldnt be seen. I was heart broken. After reading several articles on removing red stains from carpet, I decided to try this one. First I had to go by a 30 ft. extension cord so I could use my iron outside. Then I mixed up about 2 Tbsp.

Dawn dish soap with super hot water and saturated the carpet with it. I scrubbed it good then let it sit for about 5 mins. When I put the rag on it to see if any of the red was gone absolutely nothing came up. I drug my iron to the car and laid a white wash rag on the red stain, placing the steaming iron on top of the rag and wet carpet. After about 20 seconds I removed the iron and the rag to find faint pink color on the underside of the rag. I had to resaturate the carpet many, many times, but I finally got it all out! I cannot believe it worked. I am so thankful for this tip. Please try this method.
