What Breed is My Dog?

Does anyone have any ideas what breeds my dog could be? She is very fast. She is so scared of everything though. I have tried so many things to help her. She spends most of her time up under my bed or in her kennel. It just breaks my heart! The only time she looks like she is having any fun is at the dog park or at night when it quiets down.

She reminds me of the Japanese Akita.

I don't know but she is very nice looking. Cherish the time you have with her. We had to put ours a sleep and we miss him a lot. They do seem like want to talk. It's so sweet. Watch the Dog Whisperer. He has a lot of great pointers maybe it will help. Watch him to find out how to get the dog used to noises and come out more often. It could help you. Good Luck!

Looks like a Whippit blend with maybe Sheppard. Except for the face, she sounds like the dog our son and his wife adopted from a pet rescue a few Christmases back. Theirs is a male, with that same body and curly tail but his face is a bit thinner and more pointy. I say this cause they were told Whippet terrier mix via the vet. He runs like the dickens, is very loving and gentle with kids. He is smart and they have done some training with him. He is also scared of many things, like rain for instance. He will not go out if he knows it is raining. A very good loving friend. He also gets the hello from us when we walk in the door like the rest of the family. Have fun with yours.

She is 4 now but was 4 weeks when we got her. She was one of a litter of 9 found under a barn. Our friend who worked for the SPCA called me because she knew we wanted a puppy for our son. I was 8mos pregnant at the time. I didn't quite want a puppy then but I took one look at her and my motherly instincts took over and now I call my son and her my twins! hee hee She is very smart and is awesome with catching things, fetching far distances, knows so many words, etc. She is just an old soul though. If she could talk I think she would have a lot to say. She just looks at me as if to say "mom, I just want to tell you stuff". Here is another pic of her, my favorite.

She looks like a German Shepherd mix. How old was she when you got her? We have had a problem like that with 2 dogs we got when they were about 4months old---had very little human contact. They seemed happy to be around us, but would never come when called, and we were never able to train them. They would mouth around on toys, but never really learned how to play. It is very sad.
