Corn Bread


  • 1 2/3 cups sifted flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/3 cups yellow corn meal
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Ad
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup melted shortening


Sift together flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Stir in corn meal. In a separate bowl, combine remaining ingredients. Add to corn meal mixture, and beat only until smooth. Pour into greased 11x7 inch pan. Bake in 400 degrees F. oven for 30-35 minutes. Cut into squares. 6-8 servings.
