You can't beat WD-40 for loosening stuck hardware or parts. I could not remove a piece of rotten tailpipe. I gave it a shot of WD-40 and it FELL OUT of its own accord a few hours later.

I had the same experience last weekend with rusty garbage disposal parts. The Lowe's store told me that I would have to buy a new sink because the garbage disposal parts were too rusty to come apart. I sprayed with WD-40 and the next day they came apart. Saved lots of money on a sink I didn't need.
