Hair Clip Organizer

Take apart a wire hanger. Bend it with pliers into the shape of a head making loops on the side for eyes. Tie the wire together with a few pieces of yarn. Now unravel some yarn. You can wrap yarn around two chairs or someones hands. Cut the yarn once you get the amount you want, then cut the yarn in half.

Reuse Shower Curtain Rings For Keys or Clothes

If you have left over shower curtain rings, don't toss them. I put two on the hanger that my jackets are on, then hang the matching slacks or skirt, and top, on the rings. It saves time and room in the closet.

I keep one in my purse, and if I have to carry too many bags from the store to the house (am currently without a car), these help my fingers from getting tired and sore.
And lastly, they make a great key ring if you have lots of keys you need to keep straight. Enjoy!!

LuLu (Maltese/Shih Tzu)

LuLu is 11 months old and a Maltese/Shih Tzu. Lulu was born in August 2007. Through volunteer work that I do, I had the opportunity to visit a home. Lulu and her siblings had been born a few days before. I had been searching for the perfect puppy for my granddaughter, Ashley. The minute I saw these puppies, I knew my search had ended. A little over a month later, Lulu came to live with us. We love her so much. She is so funny. In this picture she is sticking her tongue out at me.

Lulu likes to play chase, tug of war with her stuffed bunny but most of all she likes to wrestle and play in the floor with Ashley. We know that Lulu is the funniest and prettiest puppy in the world.

Organizing Your Fridge

To keep my fridge organized, I found some second hand plastic drawer units. I then keep my cheeses, lunch meat, eggs and breads in four that help keep things organized. This really helps anyone with a small kitchen and, like me, needing to get all the food for the month in one shopping trip.

To keep the dressing and catsup, etc, organized, I put them in used flavored water bottles. I use a black marker to abbreviate the contents on the cap and the bottle, to make sure one doesn't get mixed up with another. It takes up half the room as the odd shaped bottles, and keeps things organized. I hope you can use this trick, as it's really made a difference in the fridge.

Contests:

These contests are weekly. We pick 2 tip winners and 1 photo winner at the end of each week. Each winner will win $25!

Today's Tips:

Use Foam Swimming Noodles as Bumpers

A friend of ours made "bumpers" for a rowboat he had newly painted by cutting up a foam swimming noodle and stringing a pair on some nylon rope. You could make small ones for your boat - or throw a double-edged pair over your car if you have to park closely in a carport. (I am thinking about THAT.)

The foam noodles yields at least 4 potential bumpers!

Store Extra Bags in Bottom of the Trash Bin

When emptying out your trash bins, put several trash bags in the bottom of the bin. The next time you empty the trash, there is a bag there ready to use.

Garden Photographs for Winter Enjoyment

Today I went outside and was enjoying my garden so much, and I had an idea. I went around with my cell phone and took pictures of my favorite flowers in bloom. I have about 8 pictures that I can use as wallpaper on my phone. These pictures will to remind me of my lovely flowers in the dead of winter. I also managed to get a picture of a beautiful yellow monarch on our butterfly bush. What a treat!

Cleaning Grease from Wallpaper

To remove greasy spots on wallpaper, apply a paste of cornstarch and water. Allow to dry. Then brush or vacuum gently.

For bare spaces in wallpaper; color in with felt tip marker. This works for small spaces or ones that are not visible.

Rotate Your Kids Toys

Keep the toy box fresh and "new" for your kids, and have fewer toys to clean up. You can do this by putting away half of their toys. When they tire of the toys they have out, begin to rotate the toys by putting a few "new" ones out and tucking away some of the toys they have been using for another time.

Get a Cold Drink Right After You Flush the Toilet

In this hot weather, do you hate wasting water by having to run it so long before it gets cold enough to drink? This sounds a little strange but if you will try a minute or so after someone has flushed the toilet, your kitchen faucet will produce cold water almost immediately. The flushing process gets it running through the pipes much faster and you don't have to wait so long for it to cool off.

Try it, it works!

Use Old Socks As Cleaning Rags

When my socks get holes in them, I turn them inside out and use them for dusting/cleaning rags. By turning them inside out I can easily spot which socks are no longer good enough to wear as I'm sorting laundry.

Uses for Celery Leaves

I always cut off the leaves from my stalks of celery before putting in the fridge (they cause the celery to wilt quicker). In the interest of "waste not want not" :) I dry the leaves in a brown paper lunch bag, then crumble up and keep with my spices. It's great if you want to add flavor to soups, etc. but are out of celery!

Lemon Peels

Cauliflower will stay white if you add a small piece of lemon peel to the water while cooking

Also, after you squeeze the juice from a lemon or orange, freeze the rind. This way, when a recipe calls for rind, you won't have to grate a fresh fruit.

Dear Webby's Joke of the Day

A 16-year-old girl bought herself a very tiny bikini. Very proud, she came home and put it on. She then showed her mother how she looked in it.

"What do you think mom?" she asked.

Her mother replied, "If I wore that when I was your age, you would be 5 years older."

Extra Service Charges on My Verizon Bill

I have Verizon phone service. My last 2 bills have had service charges on them. When I called the companies to stop the charges etc. they said I signed up for them and they knew my mother's maiden name so that means I signed up. What in the world is going on? I have NOT signed up for anything. I do take surveys from websites I have been with for along time. I don't buy anything as I work 2 jobs and still don't have enough money to pay all my bills. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Recipe For Barbecued, Slow Roasted Beef

Years ago on a trip to the USA, I had the most brilliant meal of slow-roasted beef in Kansas. I don't know the cut of beef, but it was a very large, boneless piece. Not the fillet, but perhaps a whole piece of steak (enough for about 10 people). It had been marinated, then slow-roasted on a very low heat for 10-20 hours (I can't remember the exact length of time, but definitely overnight. It was then finished off the next day on a barbecue, and was the most delicious, tender, juicy meat I have ever tasted. Does anyone know of this recipe.

What Is This Plant?

I've received this pineapple plant one year ago. It's growing a new pineapple plant from all of it's eyes, and on the top side growing another small pineapple. Until now I still don't know what the name is of this kind of plant. I just called it a unique "Pineapple" Plant. Maybe you can help me to find out what the real name is for this plant.

Mange Vs. Hot Spots

Can anyone tell me how one goes about determining whether a dog has mange or hot spots? My lab chewed his tail yesterday until it was bare of hair (about half dollar size) and today on his hind quarter (about size of a quarter). Both sites have scaly bumps. Thanks for any help.

Problems With Hibiscus Plants

I have recently potted two hibiscus plants in my balcony. The one with the pink flowers has not given a single bud in 3 weeks. Also the leaves of this plant have holes in them. What can I do to prevent the holes?

The yellow one gives one flower in a week. Three days back it had some 5 new buds, but the very next day all the buds had suddenly disappeared. What can be causing this?

Removing Ink Obscuring Label

I'm restoring an old instrument (hurdy gurdy) and some time in the past, somebody covered over the makers name label with blue ink. I've taken it off and by holding up to the light I can more or less see what's written underneath, but the date is partially obscured. The label was written in black, presumably India ink. Now how do I clean away the blue ink without removing the black underneath? Any ideas? Thanks.
